Why don't we have reasonable Practice sessions?

I find it hard to believe people think the current practice sessions are reasonable. I can't make sense of it. I have more than 10 years of experience on iRacing and recently switched to LMU. These days, I have very little time for the simulator, so when I do have a bit of extra time, I need to practice for half an hour before a race just to get things going, but for some reason, I can't do that.

I open the game, and I find a session that interests me, a GT3 race in a track that I like, I think, ok, let's practice a bit and go for a race. The practice sessions available end in 3 minutes, so there is no point in even going into that session. Why would a practice session be linked with the Race session? Even if you manage to get the practice sessions at the beginning of the session event, it's just 15 minutes!!

Then you decide to just wait for that session to start, to get a practice session on the next one, just to discover that there are no practice servers on the new session event. Sometimes it takes 4 minutes to get the practice sessions going.

I know I can pay a subscription to have access to practice servers in advance, but that's just nonsense, isn't it? I could also set up a local game and race against bots, but that defeats the purpose. You join a practice session to check where you are against other people, maybe have a sense of how it is to race very close to other cars in certain parts of the track...

I really don't get how a game this good fails so badly in such a basic feature.
Personally I feel ripped off... I enjoy practicing with other drivers on track so I paid for the subscription so I could register and join practice servers early. It's really the only reason I got rcpro.
I was extremely disappointed to see the servers reset forcing me to leave and wait 5 minutes for the next short session to start.
In my opinion it would be much better if the servers open early for rcpro subs and stayed open until the event started. Unlock it for non subs as soon as the previous event starts so there's no interruption for subs and no 5 minute wait for non subs

It is about having as few servers as possible again all about money
That is why I feel ripped off.

It really would be better though. They could open 3 x 36 min servers for rcpro subs with more ready as they get full.
The servers would open to everyone else when there's 20 minutes left.

It feels counter-productive to register for a bronze race 40 minutes before the event with 2 x 12 minute servers with a 7 minute wait in between.

My math is probably way off but you get the picture

To be honest I am almost at the end with this game,

I detest ranked servers, and hosted is just a waste of time these days, either all GT3 or over zealous arseholes quick to DQ for nothing.

The game is in a very weak position I think sadly

It is not very inclusive, very very elitist and this is what usually happens when devs make games for very few poeple primarily

I disagree completely... I enjoy ranked races and I love the rush I get from quick dailies. I don't touch public hosted lobbies but there are a lot of leagues running solid championships in hosted.
I just wish I didn't have to leave and rejoin the practice server when I join early.
Let's stick to the original topic

If you actually did try hosted, you would find out that most of them are practice lobbies, no time delays, no booting, maybe you ought to try some, and that is exactly ON TOPIC captain pedantic

I am enjoying the crowded hosted servers, especially the all-classes, 2hr+ practice servers. There are trolls but mostly its great fun.

The topic is practice servers not hosted.
I didn't pay for the subscription to join hosted servers that are inconsistent.
I'm not try to complain about everything. .
I'm suggesting a better way to run official practice servers

The thing is, my point is that is not likely to change chap. It is about limiting server use and costs.

You can get 2 or 3 hour practice servers in hosted, no hassles, or set up your own maybe?

If you want practice, does it matter really where it is?

Someone did mention hosted servers and I have also in earlier posts. We are discussing the practice servers but some of the things currently happening on the hosted servers would be good on daily and other LMU official servers, imho, so that is the reason I am mentioning them on this thread. My whole purpose on this thread however is and remains the now too-short bronze daily race servers.

The main feature about the daily races servers is that they have the setups, when fixed, that will be used for the race. As well, the racers on the practice servers are some of the racers that will be the actual racing competition. And all this on the same servers used for the races, so connection speeds and features will be the same. That why the daily races servers matter to me.

This is exactly the point.
I'm not interested in joining hosted practice or paying for my on hosted.

Practice servers should open early for rcpro subs and they should stay open until the event starts so we don't have to leave and rejoin. Non subscribers can join when the open for everyone and LMU can open more as they fill like they already do.

It really is a simple concept but these devs like to make everything as difficult and complicated as possible.

Yes it does matter. I want to practice in official practice servers. Why is that a problem

Why though, as I see it there is no difference, a practice server is just that you will get more time aswell.

I can see that you would potentially have to set your own up, but often the servers in hosted mirror what is going on in ranked anyway.

If a solution is offered and you simply refuse to accept it, that is on you chap, if you just want to practice at a venue in a certain car, that is easily done if you have rc, if you don't, fair enough.

I am guessing that the pre-registration practice servers are separate from the actual event server? The event server starts when registration time runs out?

I'm pretty sure Rowdy is referring to practice servers that RCPro subs can access, which end and then those players have to join the next server (after some minutes) along with everyone else.

Indeed all practice servers are separate to the short practice session attached to the event itself, since you can't be placed into a server with other people until the registration list (and splits) is finalised.

The only thing that really bothers me about LMU are the training servers. Of course, you can host your own, create race weekends, or come up with other solutions. But it doesn’t offer the same quality as a dedicated server run by fellow players that meets the requirements of the race in question. Although I can register for a race in advance with my subscription, I only have a few minutes to tune up for the race. I find that completely insufficient.

Even though this has been written 100 times already, I’d still like to repeat it so that those in charge keep hearing it over and over again.

I’d like to repeat it in a friendly manner

Say it louder for the people in the back!!!
Unfortunately, I don't think the devs read the forums.
