WARNING DABGEROUS DRIVING. You are close to ban!

I received this kind of warning after completing just a few races.
I made sure to avoid contact with other cars.
I might have hit the wall a few times.
Overall, I don't think I caused any major issues.
If there was one issue, it was that I received an instruction to pit due to car trouble, but I ignored it and continued racing without pitting.
Could that have been the problem?
I don't recall whether the pit stop order was a penalty or simply an instruction to carry out repairs. If the order was a penalty and was ignored, that would be a serious issue.Would ignoring a simple repair instruction also result in a ban?

Please tell me the criteria for a ban.
I'm afraid of getting banned, so I can't play online.

  • Badges (more info here): The game detects contact with other drivers (on a no fault basis as their isn't a system to detect fault) and contact with barriers. If a driver has too many contacts their badge will change appropriately on a rolling 10 race average.
  • LiveSteward (more info here): AI which detects incidents, chops a video out of a replay and sends to the human stewards for manual review.
  • In game reporting (more info here): Users reporting for intentional wrecking, griefing, chat toxicity etc...

Not pitting for repairs should not incur any sort of penalty. Driving erratically, possibly due to a damaged car might.
The fact you cannot recall if there was a penalty or not says you need more awareness. If you are blind to a simple penalty icon, you might also be missing your issues while driving that could add up to a ban. Practice more, perhaps offline, until you are fully comfortable with the information displayed for your benefit.

You probably got the black and orange flag for damage repairs required. If you ignore those, just like in real life you get a penalty which then eats into your safety rating.

You also mentioned hitting the walls "a few times". Honestly if you can't keep it out of the walls on your own, you shouldn't go online and practice offline further until your're at least consistent.

After that, I raced once or twice, crashed into a wall, and my car could no longer run straight, so I retired from the race.
Ultimately, I received a one-day ban.
Message from the email regarding the ban:

Your account has been suspended:
Duration: 24h
Reason: You have been involved in too many on-track incidents and contacts over the last 10 races. You have been automatically suspended for 1 day due to a high SR Incident Ratio (1st Offense). If your on-track behavior does not improve after the suspension, the next ban will be longer. You will have 5 races to try and improve your SR Ratio and try to gain a clean or trusted racer badge.

Are crashing into the wall and retiring from the race considered incidents?

It's a simracing game, not an arcade game.
You need to learn to drive and not hit the walls
also for respect to other drivers too.

If you can't drive properly, i would suggest going solo and work your skills, at least to be able to stay on track with consistency.

A few spins are Ok but not incidents to the point of being banned.

By the way, you will also be penalized in solo mode. Keep restrictions high and learn to respect them.

Automated bans like this are badge bans. GaetanL's post linked to a page with information on badges. Short answer: crashing into the wall and contact with other cars will directly affect your badge. Retiring from a race instead of continuing could make it worse, because it's a contact rate (contacts per lap, or possibly time, I'm not sure).

Yes definitely, do you consider them to be normal racing procedures? It's a simulation game, not Forza or Gran Turismo.

If you crash into the wall or have trouble steering you become unpredictable for the people around you, that in it's own, is already reason enough to slap your wrist in the hope you'll improve.

Practice offline first, and see if you can get consistent laps in, otherwhise it's no use to go online.

I accept the ban, though it strikes me as extremely strict. I spun, went off-track, hit walls, and retired from races multiple times.
However, I was very careful to avoid contact with other cars.
I never caused a major crash myself, and I always yielded the way when I was being lapped.
I received a one-day ban after ten races.
If I keep making mistakes online, I’ll likely face a permanent ban.
It’s quite frightening, so I’m going to stay away from online play for a while.

I played 10 online races and was banned for one day for problematic behavior.

I accept the ban. I made many mistakes, such as spinning, going off-track, hitting walls, and retiring from races.

However, I tried to avoid contact with other cars as much as possible.

For future reference, I would like to know what kind of problematic behavior leads to a ban.

Contact with other cars is obviously problematic.

Spinning on the track
Going off-track
Hitting the wall
Retiring from the race

Are these also problematic behaviors that could result in a ban?
Please explain the criteria for an "incident."

If you've paid for the game, no one has the right to restrict your freedom. You can crash your car into a wall, quit a race, or whatever you want, as long as you don't harm or interfere with other participants.

Well, first of all, I find it hard to believe that someone could get banned solely from hitting walls.
And secondly, even if that really were the case, to end up in the top 0.1% for contacts, he would have to be unable to keep the car on the track for more than a couple of minutes. In that situation, regardless of how well-intentioned they may be, he is still not ready to participate in online races.

Being banned doesn't prevent them from playing offline, where he can take the time to improve. Because if someone has reached that point, then even with the best intentions in the world, he's inevitably going to be a hazard in online races.

I often get distracted by drivers in front of me crashing.
If drivers wreck everywhere, you are being actually distracted from your race.
IRL, it's even a safety issue, driver unable to stay on track can't race and can be excluded.
I repeat, it's not an arcade game it's a simulation.

Incorrect, just the fact that you pay, doesn't mean you are safe. Crashing into walls is unsafe and means you need to step up your racecraft. And if you're unsafe, you shouldn't be racing online, risking other people their race.

You pay for gas and insurance for your car in real life, it doesn't give you the right to speed or cause accidents. That's not "freedom restriction" it's common sense.

While "technically" you might think so.... but to access online you agree to it's terms when signing up (whether you read them or not is immaterial). If you break these rules you may lose access to the online portion of the game.

You're mistaken, this is a regular game, not a simulator, lol. And if this isn't real life, the person paid for their own pleasure, they might have a gamepad and try really hard, but it's not working... so no one has the right to restrict access to online. I admit it's possible in private leagues. Today, we've seen a lot of complaints with similar messages, where people were allegedly banned for low ratings and dangerous driving, and yes, they didn't harm anyone. The ban was specifically for the regular loss of SR rating, not for a specific protest from another race participant. And if even this distracts you and spoils the racing experience, then that's your problem; all users should enjoy the purchased service equally.

There are no bans for low SR. Badges aren’t SR.

If you can't keep it on the black stuff, you shouldn't be racing but practicing.

See the post directly above yours. #15. Terms of Use have to be agreed upon before the game allows you to join online. Thus...if those terms are violated, they have every right(since the user agreed to the terms) to ban online access.
Growing up, we used to have a saying. My Rights end at your Nose. Users have the right to misbehave, but once they do, the devs have the right to remove access.(while still allowing complete access to offline racing)

But you can't play the game online without agreeing to this?
.?

Im sorry but I think this whole preventing people from playing a game they have bought outright is a joke, we are all adults, I left bloody school years ago I should not have to be put on naughty steps, it's pathetic, over reactive and just a very poor way to treat people who have PAID good money for a product.

If you are new it is quite a challenge initially to work everything out here, there is a lot going on and there are no tutorials, you get dumped into chaotic ranked servers and you must comply or you are banned from a game you bought 2 days ago, that is a joke sorry, it's a bloody game,

I will add I have not been banned as a result of this, I have not touched ranked servers for months.
