Switching Tyres

Doing the One Stint at Sebring where the are only 6 tyres available across the 3 sessions.

Are we unable to switch tyres between all wheels or an I missing how to do it. Once a tyre is selected you cannot change to anything other than a new set of wets or the old tyre that was on.

In the most recent race I did I think I remeber it automatically put new fronts on at the switch between qualify and race, what if I want left side only or something.
 
The problem with changing tires and installing a random set remains. When I entered the pits, I had 71% left in the back and 58% in the front, and instead of a fresh set, they installed terrible tires of 44-48% and calculated the time as +12 seconds. When will this end? If the developers are having problems, make an unlimited number of sets and do not spoil the races and people's mood.
 
I'm not sure what happened in the race I posted about but I raced last night and the tyre selection worked as I expected, was able to put tyres where I wanted.
