StrategyMaster 3000 - Pit Stop and Fuel/VE Strategy Planner

Hi there,

I built a pit stop and fuel/VE strategy planner for Le Mans Ultimate and figured I'd share it with the community. It's free, open source, no account needed, no tracking, no ads.

Pick track, class, and race length - defaults fill in the rest. Results update as you change values.
  • Track and car class defaults are built in, so you get a usable strategy without knowing consumption figures upfront. Everything can be overridden manually.
  • Expected lap count accounting for pit stop time loss
  • Recommended start fuel: minimum amount needed so you don't over-fuel at the start
  • Pit stop count, timing, and fuel load per stop
  • Full stop plan with individual stint durations and tyre change options
  • Configurable pit and finish buffer: you set how much fuel/VE risk you're comfortable with
  • Lift & Coast planning per stint, with L&C vs. normal side-by-side comparison and a recommendation
  • Flags if reducing consumption could save you a stop
  • Multiclass encounter prediction with correct race-end logic (overall leader determines session end)
  • You can save or share a link with your calculations or download an infographic showing your strategy.
Notes: Tire degradation and weather conditions are not modelled yet. LMGT3 and LMP3 have tuned defaults (own testing); other classes use calculated estimates.

Mostly built it for myself, but maybe someone else finds it useful.

If you want to give it a try: https://strategymaster3000.com

Cheers!

Thank you for this! For the casual or occasional online racer, this will be invaluable. Giving them(well ME actually) a good pre-race estimate of the fuel amounts will be awesome. Just for me, however, you also need to include a slider for how many times I expect to be lapped!!! :)

hehe :) Good point!

Maybe I should make the "class leader laptime"-field available outside the L&C comparison and include it in the race timeline...

EDIT: ok, leader laptime added...now you can see how many laps the class leader ist doing (if you enter a laptime, otherwise it's assumed, you are the class leader).

Hello, I love your tool and use it for each race.
Nevertheless, would it be possible to add a feature using a switch button like L&C for example for the following need.
Let me explain, for multi stints races, I always start with the full fuel tank as it does not cost time to fill it before the race start. However, after the first stint, I prefer to split the remaining stints into equal ones instead of filling the tank to full again until the last stint.
It helps me having a lighter car with tank not completely full, letting me be slightly quicker and preserving the tyres as the stint is shorter and the car lighter.
So I wish your could add an option to still have the first stint with full tank then divide the remaining laps into equal stints.
Would it be easily feasible ?
Thanks in advance, DP

Hey DP,

I'm glad you like using the tool!
To your suggestion: Good point with the lighter car, but the calculator does not take into account changing lap times, e.g. due to tire wear and ligher fuel load. But yes, of course it's a valid strategy to distribute the fuel evenly across the stops. But: The calculator will show the same total time for this strategy as for the normal full tank strategy. This is because the tool calculates with a fixed lap time and no tire degradation. Of course, it can still be faster in the race. Similar to multi-class lapping, where "only" fixed time losses per lapping are calculated and which of course can be more or less in the race.

Yes, it can be done with a toggle. Total time does not change (except for special cases), but the stop scheduling does. I'll add the feature to the list. I plan to implement the artificial tank limit anyway, so that the tank size limit of some races is also mapped in the calculator.

Thanks again for the input! I can't say yet until when I can implement this, because I don't have much time at the moment, but I'll take it in. Cool idea, thank you!

I don't really mind the calculator not taking the slightly better lap times into account. I would just want at a glance to see how many laps I would have to do for each equal stint.
And thank you for doing it whenever you want, I'm not in a rush.

Cool.
More ppl should see this. I only found it by accident because it went into "What's new"

The Info/Warning on the very top sems a bit weird as is.

Most of the time it says
On the edge — no margin for another lap.
But that's what we want, isn't it.

Trying to make it "safer" by adding a buffer leads to the Warning:
Energy/Fuel at finish below buffer (8.0%) — too risky!

Imo there should be a one click option to add the extra safety lap (for Postbeamte/Pussies)
The Info should also indicate when minimal L&C would extend by one lap.

Thx! I don't promote this tool... I made it, because most fuel calculators are too basic imo and I wanted a better version for myself in the first place... It's nice that others like it, too. Feel free to use the Share-Link or Infographic Cards ;)

You are right, I removed the "on the edge" warning. Should be obvious with the buffer setting.

Yep, that message made no sense in this case. Should be fixed.

Done, implemented it. Now you have a toggle which let's you plan a safety lap. It uses the "finish buffer" and sets it to whatever the fuel consumption is for a lap.

The Info should also indicate when minimal L&C would extend by one lap.
This is already implemented. You can try it e.g. with the following data:
- Imola, 95min, LMGT3
You will get a message: "Last stop avoidable: reduce consumption to 3.41%."

I also fixed the behaviour, that adjustments within the stop plan were overridden when the overall L&C toggle is used. Share-Links now take that into account too.

If you encounter any bugs, feel free to report them to me.

Happy racing

I try to make it visible 🙂
