Solo drivers should not be scored in team events.

You know what, It's simple, They should have more, There is just not enough to go round, They, And we all go on about LMU going from strength to strength, But as numbers go up, The online events stay the same, We just get more splits instead of more variety, So when a 2.4 event comes up at Le Man, Everyone wants to jump on it.
Yes we know that there was a solo 2.4 last week, But when is that gonna come around again, It could be 3,4, 5 weeks away, They should know by now were and what people like to race, They should know they could fill a 36 car grid at Le Mans all day, Every day, But what do we have this week, A 20 minute, 20 car McLaren grid at Le Mans, A track that's 14KM and takes 4 minutes to get round with 20 cars on it, That's a bloody joke, And we also have Spa in the soaking wet, Get the statistics for that and then tell me how full that is on a daily bases.
By now they know the tracks people like to race on, They should use that information to give the players what they want, If they have to add more server space or whatever, Then so be it, They can't just keep adding more splits to the same amount of specials and dailies.

I confess I was astonished to come back from Le Mans and not find decent Le Mans races to take part in. I was itching to do a long LM race and I had to set up an offline race instead. (I’m now three stints into a full 24 hours…..). I’m sure I’m not the only one who would have loved the chance to do an hour long (or longer) race at Le Mans this week. It really isn’t rocket science a few days after 350,000 people attended the greatest race of them all….(a race at which LMU had a stand with about 20 machines and a permanent queue to use them!).

Dear LMU Team,

our Racing-Team has noticed an increasing number of solo drivers participating in team events.
Typically, two drivers are registered, but the race is ultimately driven by just one person.

Currently, LMU penalizes this by not awarding DR or SR points to solo drivers.
In our opinion, this is insufficient. Solo drivers should not be classified at all, as this creates an unfair advantage.

We have illustrated this with an example in a PDF, which shows that the top four finishers were all solo Drivers.
The driver in fifth place was the first "true" finisher.
The advantages enjoyed by a solo driver are significant, making the results invalid for ranking purposes.

Please LMU, you really need to address this to restore fairness for all team drivers.

Best regards...

I think 4 hours must be a limit for solo-driven races. 6 and more hours races must include driver change.

iRacing has this limit. 3 and 4 hours team races are solo doable (minimum drivers = 1).
6 hours has minimum drivers = 2 condition. it means you can register as team of >=2, drive alone but you will be DQ after finish due to "fair-share rule" which requires everybody registered for race (X drivers) to drive 25% of 1/X of race time.
ex each of 4 registered drivers for 8-hours race must drive at least 30 minutes (25% of 1/4 of 8 hours), and each of 3 drivers in 24-hours race must drive at least 2 hours (25% of 1/3 of 24 hours).
Rule is lap count based, so actual time is +/- couple minutes.

in fact any WEC race is team-based and driver-change is required. So no choice here. I think LMU hasn't this limit yet just for marketing purpose - to attract more participants into team races. But at some moment they will make some limit.

And this is perhaps the most important point of all. As a game developer/publisher/retailer, would you prefer 1000 entries of which 400 are solo, or would you prefer 600 team entries? Sponsors and investors will only be looking at the totals.

Yes, but of those 1000, only 400 are solo entries. The other 600 are teams.
600 x 3 + 400 = 2200 > 1800.

Come on, There gonna be all out for teams, 600 x 3 is 1800 Pro subscriptions, But with the server bandwidth(Or how ever it works) to cater for 600, Quids in.
But what do you expect, Look at what I said up top, Now look at what the Bronze daily is again, The very same LogiTech 20 car, 20 minute McLaren race at Le Mans, That race was bad enough for one week, And they have gone and done it for another, If I was stuck in Bronze i would be livid, I would assume they get a good screw out of LogiTech, Mclaren or both.
As I said, there is not enough variety, This is why people that can race Gold and Silver still venture into Bronze, Because the variety is so thin on the ground they are getting the hit anywhere they can.
There is just one weekly this week for solo, which is today, Tomorrow and then Monday, Which just so happens to be the days the average man or woman work, Brilliant, But it just so happens the special team event is Friday, Saturday and Sunday, The days many don't work or have to get up the next morning, I'm not gonna say I know how it all works server side, But the way it's worked out all points to saving money anywhere they can, Offer ranked servers, But just the bare minimum they need too.
So lets not talk about solo drivers in teams events like we are some sort of lepers when that's the schedule that is being served up to solo drivers.

Not disagreeing with anyone, and if u had to a sense of realism with team swap events. Maybe for events longer than 2-3 hours, 3 drivers are mandatory each completing an hour and a half or something along those lines. 🤔🤔🤔🤔

WEC regulations have a minimum driver time for a 6 hour race of 1 hour 45 minutes.(driving time, not time in the pits) coupled with 4 consecutive hours maximum. That is for LMGT3 teams which must include at least 1 Bronze rated driver.(Silver rated drivers, in the case of 3 driver teams, must also meet these minimums)

The numbers change slightly for 8, 10, 12 & 24hr races.
(hmmm imagine super sim teams like Team Redline having to have at least 1 bronze badged driver for each race)

Using that ratio for a TWO HOUR sim race. The minimum time any one driver should drive is 35 minutes. WEC rules also stipulate that any car that does not race ALL of it's entered drivers will be excluded. Further, any driver not driving at least 45 minutes in a 6 hour race will not score any driver points. (for instance if the car was involved in an accident near the end of an event) Again, using the ratios established by WEC, the most any one driver consecutively should drive in a 2 hour online event would be 1 hour 20 minutes.

So, if MSG wants to allow solo drivers in team events, those solo drivers should not take ANY points away from legitimate team drivers. In other words, they get no podium, no finishing place, all they do is occupy space on the race track. I think MSG, by excluding the driver ratings from gaining or losing points for a solo driver, is trying to meet that goal. What they should do is cull all solo drivers from any team event results. No recognition. If the first TEAM in a race comes in 6th, they immediately get bumped to first, and any solo driver finishing ahead of them should be excluded, as well as any solo drivers buried in the field. Any team event in a championship online season should contribute zero season points for solo drivers.

I was watching the 3 hours of Spa at the weekend, there were solo 'teams' entered and driving there, so why not here?
Not a WEC event. The British GT event at Spa is organized by the Stephaine Ratel Organization. SRO has many endurance categories including solo and team races with series all over the planet. But LMU is not based upon SRO events. Both WEC & SRO have races at SPA but they are completely separate formats and rules.

Also, some series combine various classes when the field size is limited. Thus, that race had Super Trofeo cars competing with but not against other classes of SRO GT cars, mainly GT2 cars but also a Ferrari 296 challenge car AND various driver categories like MASTERS & Pro Am. I suspect many of the smaller British GT teams did not have the budget to ship their cars, equipment and personnel over to Belgium, thus a rather small car count.

So a completely different event, sponsored by a completely different organization(SRO) and tied to a completely different sim.(ACC).

My bad..

Sorry, But not anywhere in the WEC regulations dose it state that qualifying sessions are just you and an empty track.
Part of the tactics of qualifying is when you go out, If you can get a tow of another car, More so at tracks like Le Mans and Monza, Many people drive faster when following as apposed to an empty track.
What I'm saying is lets not use WEC regulations as a defense when the game is already picking and choosing which parts of the regulations it follows.

So.... Nords?

if we are ignoring rules cuz other rule are not implemented, then there should be zero impediment for the Nordscheiffe circuit being imported. Right after the Indy 500, Monaco Grand Prix and the Soap Box Derby.
Keep in mind the discussion was about TEAM Races. Not open events, there are lots of those, but TEAM events. Why bother even having a TEAM event if having a TEAM is a bother? (just thought of that as I typed it!!! )

Your being silly now.

I won't open another thread for this as it's sort of a continuation, I have nothing against team events, Why would I, It's my own fault I'm a Billy no mates, But as I said at the top it's the variety that's the problem.
I've not raced this week due to time, But have just looked at the schedule for next week and it's pretty poor and can't see myself racing much next week either.
Bronze is stuck with another LOGITECH race, The backhander from that event much be pretty lucrative,A 38 car multi class splits at Portimao in silver is bad enough, But then the weekly is a 44 car mixed split at Portimao, It's a go-Kart track at best, One is bad enough, But two for the whole week is comical, Kiss your badge goodbye racing any of them.
And no Le Mans again, Unless your in a team, Just as I said, When will the next opportunity come for solo's to to run a half decent Le Mans race.

Well, yesterday I did 2 attempts of "6 hours of Le Mans" with team partner (using LMP2-WEC).
And looking at results after race, I saw that solo racers (both DNF and finished) didn't score anything to personal DR and SR, only their teams were scored with both DR and SR.
So (as I understood) I can now register into team race, drive solo any number of laps, make DNF or even finish, and score nothing to personal ratings (no + and no - into both ratings). It's no good. Because during race I can be involved (and being the reason of) some incidents, even collisions.

I think all participants must be scored with SR. Just DR should be not scored for solo racers.
And I think 4-hours team races should be solo-doable in full (all ratings scored).

Sometimes DNF-ed solo racer is actually team member, wrecked his car shortly after race start (before next team member gets into car). And his wreckage may have consequences for another participants (in case of collision with other cars). And now it's out of control.
