Known Issue [Replay] steering angle is doubled

This issue is known and being investigated by the developers.

During replays the steering angle is doubled. It is possible for the replay to show the steering angle above maximum lock for the specific car. My real inputs are half what is shown in this clip. I certainly didnt rotate my steering wheel twice just to go through corners.

Good evening @LJT270 🖐️ ,

I believe you that your steering wheel inputs are less, but as far as the video itself is concerned,
the steering wheel doesn't turn twice. To me it looks completely normal & I watched it again at 0.25 speed,
but I'll try it out with the same car & track & then watch my own replay & then I'll get back to you.

For reference I’m setting 41s quite easily, obviously taking it easy given its lap 1. Not the fastest for certain but respectable enough. Not sure you would achieve that with those inputs (shown In the replay), would just scrub the front tyres to hell!

So I've tried a few things now & the inputs from the replay match my actual inputs.

By the way, my settings look like this :

LMU (Steering Settings) .png

Can you reproduce the error & does it happen in every vehicle ?

I use the same rotation settings, apart from using 900 degrees instead (matched with wheel ofc). Seems to only be a problem when using VR. On screen the issue is not able to be replicated. I always use VR to race, and tend to use my screen to view the replays. I have replicated the problem below

Hello @LJT270 🖐️ ,

first of all, thank you very much (y) for making the extra effort,
because now you can clearly see that there really are differences.

As far as the 900° is concerned, it doesn't matter (in my opinion) what you entered
if you set the setting to "On". It could have said 180° for me, but it's grayed out & therefore doesn't matter.

Finally, I just have one more question, because I also only drive in VR :

When you drive in VR, your virtual steering wheel angle is the same as the real steering wheel angle,
but when you then look at the relay video, the steering wheel is turned much more, right ?

Okay @LJT270 🖐️ ,

I've tried it myself now & it's the same as yours.

When I drive in VR & then watch the replay in VR,
that I started from the main menu, everything is fine,
but when I close LMU & start normally (not VR) & watch the replay,
the steering wheel inputs are twice as strong 😵‍💫

So thank you again (y), because without you I would never have
noticed it either & it's definitely a BUG that needs to be fixed.

On screen and in VR, the wheel rotation in game is identical to the wheel rotation on my fanatec. It’s only when loading the replay after doing a session in VR when the wheel rotation is exaggerated compared to my real inputs.

I just discovered this issue as I was preparing to send a replay I did in VR out for sim racing coaching. The coach is going to think I'm cranking Loew's hairpin-levels of lock in 90 degree corners! Is there any workaround/fix for this ?

Does Studio 397 monitor these threads? This has been an issue for a year now. -- I've had to turn off all autodetection of wheel lock in settings/calibration just so the replays aren't borked.
