(Sys: 5900x on x570-chipset, dual channel 32GB (2*16) ram@3200MT/s , following amd specs (not 3600 or sth); 6800xt, playing @5120x1440 freesync, all stock: NO oc/uv/curve-optimization or other potential bullshit, memtest86-stable, clean w11 (23h2, 24h2 since yesterday) with up-to-date drivers*, no 3rd-party-software , no overlays)
*up-to-date chipset and graphics drivers directly from amd, intel i211 network-drivers and fanatec driver 455 (csl dd), all other: std-microsoft-drivers)
(Game always uses my whole vram (16gb): i don't know if this is wanted or not, just want to mention it)

Issues:
Game fills system ram-> swapfile to death ONLY while in menu (no run started yet, main menu already does this) or while in box(pit) (where is also a menu).
When there is no more ram/swapfile left to fill:
Crash to desktop without error message OR Crash to desktop with error message OR menu disappears, i can see other ppl driving but i can't do anything else than ALT+F4, for example. (also mentioned in other threads here). Poor 99th percentile fps during filling.
If i quit any menu fast enough and start racing, the ram-filling stops immediatly and i can race without any problem with impressive fps/99th percentile fps, completely smooth (until the next menu).

Ususally there are broken files which need to be repaired by steam after failure.
(If i do not repair: game may freeze in menu (i can still close the game via taskmanager on 2nd screen) or broken sebring-picture is shown after race like mentioned in other threads here)

It's weird (to me, anyway) that it isn't gameplay that appears to be causing the issues, it's the menus???

yes, only menus are causing the ram leak.
Maybe other ppl with similar issues want to check this, easy to check with windows-taskmanager on 2nd monitor, for example
Of course i can provide screenshots or anything you want, if needed.

The menus/ui are freezing and laggy/stuttery on race weekend not Online.

haven't played "raceweekend" yet, only online. Hm, but good point, i'll check it now.
(not much hope since memory is already filling in main menu before choosing online or raceweekend.)

update: no difference in behavior, online or raceweekend: doesn't matter: memory filling until crash, (filling stops immediatly when starting to race and continues when in-box(pit) menu is shown or if i quit back to menu.)

Just joined bahrain training online, drove a few rounds and waited in pit for the crash* (watching my memory filling until nothing left, in taskmanager on 2nd screen), didn't took long. (hs_err_pid372.log says "Java went out of memory..")
*this time: crash to desktop, no error msg. I still could be driving if i didn't quitted to pit (or main menu), for example.
(Eight corrupt files after this, which needed repair, don't know which ones exactly, steam downloaded 3,3kb)

Attached a few logs, pls tell my if you need sth else. (no dmp-file here)

I watched my memory and it was at 27% to 28% and GPU was at 89%, in garage and on track.

I don't know if it's a bug but, in my opinion, it's a strange situation and I think it shouldn't happen: I monitored LMU through my GPU management app (AMD software: Andrenalin Edition) and I noticed that the game, since its startup and when I'm still browsing the menus, almost completely fills the RAM (16G) of my graphics card. This happens with any graphics configuration I set in game. So I need to ask: is this normal? Is there a way to avoid saturating the RAM of my GPU? Could this be the cause of continuous freezes and CTD?
I also want to add that I play using a 27" Samsung G5 triple monitor with a native resolution of 2560x1440 at 144Hz, and with the resolution configured with Eyefinity at 7820x1440.
The RAM remains full even when I enter the track (tested at Le Mans in offline mode with only one car present.)

Windows Version: 11 64 bit
PC Spec (CPU, GPU, RAM):
CPU: Intel Core i7 12700KF - 3.61 Ghz;
GPU: AMD Radeon RX6900XT - 16MB;
RAM: 32 GB;

@Flavio Vandelli
Here also the vram is fully used, i can't say if this leads to the situation. Maybe it's on purpose for caching or whatever.
The vram is fully used during driving, too. While the system runs smooth.

I can't figure out a special process which needs so much system-ram. lmu itself is shown with about 3,5gb after start, divided in a few pocesses.
But more an more (virtual) ram is reserved concerning windows resource monitor until "everything" freezes. After a
while in any lmu-menu my whole windows is "stuck" until i quit lmu via taskmanager, for example. (If i doesn't crash to desktop, it's hard to quit, but possible.) Then windows starts "breathing" again. RAM is cleared then, usually no restart nescessary.
Easy to reproduce: i just need to start game, doing nothing, just staying in main menu is enough to trigger the issue. The ram-/swapfile-filling starts immediately. (and stops immediately when starting to drive, continues when a gamemenu is shown until everything is full and game crashes for example, windows stucks, but i'm repeating myself)

Haven't changed anything with the swapfile, it's windows default. Maybe i can play around with it a bit: disabling, setting a fixed value, use another drive.. things like that. Usually this is not the best idea (it is a bad idea imho! ) and shouldn't be nescessary but maybe one can figure out sth.

[update: i switched off the swap file, behavior doesn't change, systemram ist successively reserved until everything freezes. Same behaviour only without filling a swap file: system stucks, game crashes a bit earlier, thats all. I'll switch it back to default..]

Maybe it is time to break a serration out of my "stable-system-clean-Windows-crown" and do a fresh clean install, but lmu ist the only prg making trouble and only in its menus.. since years (but before that: i'll wait for a few forum-responses and i have three more relatively strong, clean and stable systems at home (from wife and children, we are a "gaming family") where i could test lmu). Don't ask for the electricity bill :)

and fanatec driver 455 (csl dd),

Like I said 6 months ago we don't need more threads with the same issues over and over. No offence meant ;)
We need one with people have no issues and what they do / did to obtain it.
I think a thread with those type of posts posts would be invalueable, things to try on a similar spec tower.
OS / hardware/ setup / combos and many other things have consequence without even throwing users eccentricity into the mix.

You could be right but we are all trying to help each other out here to understand and solve the problem. Also, from what I can tell, this RAM saturation problem has nothing to do with the Fanatec 455 or 457 drivers, since I have the same problem as Martin Frank but I don't use a Fanatec. I would rather say that it could be related to the GPU drivers since we both use an AMD, but this is just my theory formulated by someone totally inexperienced in the sector.

Picked up on this, might be wrong, do you all have AMD Gfx cards? I have not seen this with my Nvidia Card, in fact if anything I have head room of VRAM. Also headroom of CPU, but still getting the stutters.

(I refreshed my backups early this morning.)
At the moment i'm installing a clean win11 24h2 from zero, deleted all system- and gamepartitions during install. (I'll have to reinstall/download everything, really everything.)
Let's see If it helps with the memory leak ( If not, at least i will have a full backup to go back to or a completely fresh installed environment, i will choose later :) ).
Well, If issue is gone after this, i will not be able to tell what exactly was the problem, only that a fresh Install helped or not.

@Flavio Vandelli
Good to hear it should not be the fanatec Driver.

@Fingers
I can't believe it is such a big and easy to recognize Problem: Nvidia/AMD. I think this would have been recognized and fixed already .

Agreed, but at the mo we are all who is suffering with stutters spinning around grasping for answers. If everyone was stuttering it would be cut n dry nothing we can do our side. The fact there's others who seem to be completely unaffected has me now after doing a full clean reinstall of LMU, thinking of formatting the drive of a new PC just a few months old. I am happy for you to go first ;)

I have seen other sims using all the VRAM and been smooth as silk in game. Menu's should not be gobbling it up though.

PS

I am guessing this just started after the last update.

Nor can I but they've not resolved the AMD only 'black pixels' and they've been around since February...... ;)

OK, rdy with Investigation.
Friends, we will NOT solve this at Home.

Freshly and Clean installed 24h2 and steam and LMU. Nothing changed in Windows (MS-signed AMD Driver 31.0.13027.9001, dated 30.03.2023 preinstalled by win).
Nothing changed in LMU, not a single option.
Ram leak is there. No Chance for us.

( It's clonezilla-time now 😃 )

It's being worked on. It's not happening to all AMD users, which makes it more challenging.

I am guessing this just started after the last update.
In this post a user reported the problem on September 15th, so before the last update.
