Poor visual quality/graphics.

Does anyone have any idea how to improve the visual fidelity of the game. The physics are great but the graphics really deter me from playing. I have jagged white lines everywhere and the armco barriers are blurry as hell. I have tried every in-game setting combination and tried every Nvidia Control
app. combination based on my online research. None have helped. I’m using a 1440 ultra wide screen @240hz, and an RTX 5090. I assume the game is just outdated because it’s running on the rFactor engine? Thanks.

It is plugged into the motherboard. It’s the only game I’ve got that looks bad. It’s the game, not the equipment, I would say.

That's the whole point. Your monitor should be plugged into your GPU, not your motherboard!

It's certainly not the game, with a decent GPU you should have excellent graphics.

I have fantastic graphics in ACC, Evo, AMS2, Raceroom, F1 games, Forza 8, PMR (to an extent) but LMU is dreadful. Aliasing is terrible, and it’s very cartoony. GT7 at 4K/60hz looks much better.

rFactor2/LMU uses Forward+ Rendering as its rendering method. This rendering method is characterized by low latency, but the number of lights that can be used simultaneously is limited, resulting in somewhat cheap-looking visuals. iRacing also uses it for its low latency. The rendering method used in ACC, Evo, AMS2, etc., is called Deferred Rendering, which allows for an unlimited number of lights to be used simultaneously, resulting in very beautiful visuals, but it has higher latency (15% to 20%) compared to Forward+ Rendering.

Which rendering format is preferable for racing sims depends on the player's preference, so there's probably no single optimal solution.

I have an average system and only have a 16Gb 4060ti and my graphics are very acceptable indeed. If you're getting jagged lines and lots of blurring there is something that you've not got optimised for LMU (IMO).
