Implemented Pit stop timer

Would like to see time added to stop for missing your marks, but not the car actually moved or repositioned. Plus a distance so you can get better and faster stops.

There is pit stop time estimation in single player pit pause menu.

Although it's not working correctly at the moment (see here)

But I assume it will be fixed and it would be nice to have this in MFD Pit menu also, for multiplayer races.

All this info is very useful, so thanks for that, but it's not great when only me, you, and 10 other people see and read all of it. What about the other 1,988 odd people playing the game each day?

I just looked back at the recording of my pit stops and what is given to the player makes little sense without the context that you've added in your post above. When you see: Tyres 12 seconds, Damage 48 seconds, Virtual Energy 101 seconds, Pit Timer: [X value counting up]....The way it's easily read is 12 seconds for tyres, damage is 48 seconds and then virtual energy is 101 seconds. Why is virtual energy 101 seconds? Obviously it's not, as per your explanation, but that is not clear unless you've read your or someone elses explanation of the system! It's also in a completely different order to what the pit stop process actually is and still doesn't answer the question as to whether there is any overlap like there is in other sims.

This is the whole point of improving the communication of the pit stop system as a number of us are requesting and putting ideas forward as to how to do it, so that players can easily learn from the in-game mechanics and get a clear understanding rather than having to come to a forum and find a specific post in a multi-page thread. Making the HUD clearer is not dumbing down the system, taking away from any of the realistic elements of collision in the pit stops, having to park in the right place, calling the pit crew, etc, but instead giving the player the feedback they need to best utilize the system and not cause unnecessary frustration and push players away from endurance races because they don't understand pit stops.
You're perfectly describing all the issues and gripes I have with the current system - it's just too mysterious

To be fair, pit crew doesn't even know until the car arrive at pit stall in real life
They actually do, they know what is broken either through telemetry or visual sight and also the driver telling them what is wrong with the car. Then they prepare for it and have spare parts ready when the car is coming in. They know exactly how long it takes to replace each part of the car because they have practiced this hundreds of times.

usually if something needs to be repaired, it will be repaired, no matter how long it takes. Because IRL drivers wont keep going with a collapsed suspension or the front bumper lodged halfway into the tyre

Ok you are right, they practice and take average times of how long it would take to repair certain parts of the car, but those are time estimates, accidents are not replicated identically 100%, so there may be situations where 1. It took the time anticipated or 2. Unanticipated damage occurred and took longer than the time anticipated.

I would recommend that you practice common crashes several times such as losing the rear wing, damaged front or rear suspension, damaging the front of the car and get an approximate time to repair these common damages.

For example, I crashed the back of the car 6 times and losing the rear wing and on average it took 82 seconds to repair it completely.

So if this situation happens in the race, I have already foreseen that it will take me approximately 82 seconds to put a new rear wing.

Max: Why these tires?
Red Bull; Because.
Charles has worst time during the race as every answer is: 'we are checking';)

Back to the subject I think some info was added to MFD already. More info are in pause pit menu what was mentioned already.
I will be more happy if we can plan stints (as I remember there was such option in rF2).

may I add, a damage repair selection? if I have some bumpers damage and I lost the rear wing, would be nice to be able to select to repair only the rear wing, or only the front bumper instead of all the car etc

we need a pit stop timer preview yes, just to understand the time based on the change we are gonna made

Excellent methodology. Too many people just hop into the cockpit and start racing online without knowing fully about the pit process, the penalty system etc. Somebody suggested an offline school that drivers would be required to complete that would expose drivers to many of the WHYS for penalties or delayed pit stops or the complex starting procedure etc.( I can hear the howling now from the 1000s of experienced drivers if such a school was mandated!! :) )

When I first tried LMU in February this year I couldn't believe my eyes what a half-assed implementation this was, and still is.

Would nice to see whats the total time that you need for a pit stop in the MFD when you add tyres or fuel etc, also how much time is in total while doing the pit stop.
Really want to be able to choose what to repair and has info on how long each repair is! This is info the team would know so it’s logical that we have this info to make informed decisions.
