Pit crew animation

Pitstops are a very important part of endurance racing.
They made super nice tracks, but the pitlane looks like it got evacuated.
We only got the spandex covered lollypopman from rF2.

Until they have the pitcrew there for the entire event,(in the garage area) than we are not getting the full experience. I want to view a replay and see some of the pitcrew eating, some napping(dozing), some futzing with some piece of equipment.

Many systems can barely push the cars running around the circuits. There are plenty of posts here about LMU and slowdowns near the pits and then going back to rF2 it was a common cause of fps slowdown when folks drove by the pits...even when the pits were empty. Nords/Nurb was a really problem in that area.
So...LMU challenges many systems. Just having the cars in the pits causes slowdown. imagine what a row full of pit crews will do each time you traverse the pit area? (having said that, I would LIKE to see real working crews.) ((Also....MSG has already spent much of it's resources getting rF2 updated to a fairly workable platform. I doubt there are piles of cash just lying around to throw at a digitizing crew that has to come up with pitstops for 3+ different size cars.

I think GT7 and F1 24 have done good jobs on this. Also, is it possible to use real mecanics and put them those sensors to record their body moves while they work in the car like EA does it with the soccer players for FIFA?. This way they don’t look on screen like robots and LMU would definitely make a difference with the rest of the sims.

Yes that IS possible, but it is very expensive. Motion capture requires at least a small team to record the movements, but also a technical crew to put the ping pong ball sized orbs in the correct places on a greenscreen body suit. Facial cameras... etc. Then the artists have to paint over the results. Considering MSG has fired a goodly number of people to reduce costs associated with running both MSG and producing LMU, I highly doubt there would be any leftover money tucked inside the MSG vaults to fund ANY sort of pitcrew.

Yes, i agree. I mean…dreaming is free. Im just thinking about ideas. I would like to have a quality pit crew but i want them to focus in more important things than a pit crew in this moment. If this Sim is succesfull and they turn their finances all around, then i guess they could focus in stuff like this.

I would like that the crew member who is waving his hand to let you out of the pits, also shows some hand signs "to immediatelly stop the car" if there is some other car coming down the pit road, to avoid possible collision. Would it be possible to implement that?

And maybe if this sign of stopping the car is not obeyed, some possible penalty of "Usafe release" could be applied to the driver.

Completely Agree with previous message. Agree with pitcrew too, but please not all in orange, we are not in jail😄
Please add some sponsors (if you have right !)
And cherry on the cake, more people, more life along the pitlane like a real race ( but it will maybe cost a lot of fps)

Of course there's other things with more priority, will be good for me at the release

i swear! if the lighting is right, he looks like the grinch Straight Outta Compton!

+1, but please make sure it is a high-quality motion capture. There is nothing worse than artificial movements of the crew, uncanny valley, and low-quality bodies and textures (then I prefer to not have pit crew at all).

Watching races on TV is a lot about feeling the atmosphere in the pit, which is busy, very alive, crowded. None of the games have been able to reproduce this yet.
I suggest hiring these guys...they seem to have a feel for animations... :)

Agreed. These pit crew members should be in teams colors as well.

Got to admit, that fully populated pit lane video from PC2 looks really good. I hope something like that could be implemented at some point.
Good point regarding the guy who waves you out of the garage, him being to signal stop/go would be a cool addition.

I hope they optimize whole thing, because even now when coming towards pits (when pits in site), fps drops quite considerably on some tracks.
