Pit crew animation

the way pitstops should be is only if a pitstop is requested should the crew be ready for any car that requests it. In terms of pitstops there's a lot of motion captures to do, 1 because different cars have different wheel bases, 2 because you'll see people changing 1 or 2 tyres in the game, 3 the damage repairs i do think should be included such as front clip, rear clip, engine cover. i would also hope that brake changes are animated aswell, any work that is not animated should be required to be pushed back into pitlane. Dont know what the rule is for sebring, go down the hybrid no mans land in sunset and drive into the paddock??

I can't believe this is one of the most requested features 🤦‍♂️ It'll cost so much time and resources (animating the puppets properly, making the models not look like puppets in the first place, sound design etc.) and yet the impact on the overall experience will be minuscule - you're gonna be excited about it for 15s in a 2h race. And half of the player base will probably turn it off anyways for performance reasons. I swear Gran Turismo broke peoples minds.

First: Adds a lot immersion
Second: My PC could handle it
Third: Gran Tourismo? ACC has a very great animated pitcrew!

First: Adds immersion? Sure. A lot? No.
Second: Not everyone has your PC, and not everyone is pleased with 30-70fps.
Third: I-DON'T-CARE about pitcrew BS.

Fourth: You're missing the point. We have a EA sim with real potential, yet missing rudimentary functionality (editable HUD, driver swaps, saving during pit stops, switching off in car mirrors rendering while using virtual mirror, optimisation, reduced loading times, being able to switch off the annoying online messages... the list goes on). Yet ppl seem to focus on surface level fluff (cause "mah immersion") which does next to nothing in real terms, yet is really expensive development wise.

I just have to hope the devs have a mind of their own on these issues and realize that THIS is by far the lowest priority.

An to push the car back into the garage like real life events with heavy damage
And I would like them to eat sandwiches while you're lapping on the track. Better still, why not simulate their lives beyond the race track? They should have families and go home after the race is finished. We could watch replays of them watching us driving on their telly at their home. That would be 1st class immersion...

At least a lollypop dude to signal the pit stop is finished and you can go- even a bit of pop up text, or a count down rather than the pointless pitstop timer!

It could be an option, Have all teams just your team or no teams, Just because its an idea that alot of people want doesnt mean it will be implemented in a couple weeks, Its something that would probably be added when the game is near full release, probably not coming before Private servers or Series or a Championship Mode and Driver swaps or VR

And just cause you 'DON'T CARE' Doesn't mean that hundreds or thousands shouldn't be robbed of the opportunity to have it

Even if not everything can be done, I hope that the simplified pit animation will be introduced/fixed at least:
  • Lift the car up front and back simultaneously, but only after refueling for tyre change
  • Open the car door when there is a driver swap
  • Some other indication of car refuel, repair process or brake change (eg wheel completely gone for the period)
What I also miss coming from real broadcasts is that there are no pitlane cameras, that would for example zoom in on the tyre change or refuel timer or similar. Or at least show in some broadcast app which pitstop components are being performed in the current stop, similar to how you could show tyre age. Would be so cool for future events.

The last time an ISI/S397 had motion capture was back when Electronic Arts was footing the bill with the F199/F12k series. The Indycar project was well along with creating CGI drivers but those resources have been sold back to Indycar. I don't think we'll see a budget for pitcrews anytime in the first few years of LMU.(if at all, ever)
Not every team follows the same procedures, nor are the cars all the same size, so at least for the different classes, it would require separate filming and digitazation.(even IF they used a vanilla tire change choreography)
