Online & Offline SC, FCY, and Slow Zones (Both Officials and Hosted)

One or two of the beginner races I've been in would have had FCYs or safety cars out on every lap..... ;)

There was a FCY during the real LM24H, race in the small hours for really bad weather for a significant period, not sure the weather in-game would prompt this response, but for LMV this would at least be accurate.
Shortest race I can do offline is an hour plus, could easily squeeze a few laps FCY imho.

Online too? very complicated i know
There's another request thread that's asking for this online. You should vote that up if you want this as an online feature too (and I certainly do, especially for leagues and special events, the pick up races can stay safety car less).

I like the fact that we have flags during the race; it makes everything feel more authentic.

FCY: I believe the FCY could work similarly to the VSC in F1, where it is activated for a short period of time. In F1, the VSC is very quick; in LMU, the FCY could stay active for a bit longer. I’d say 40 seconds to 2 minutes would be ideal for gameplay. Below is a video example of how the VSC works in F1.

SC: In F1, the SC usually stays on track for 2 to 3 laps, which I think is enough. There are two options for configuring how the SC works. One is the Immersive mode, where you control the car during the entire SC period. The other is TV Broadcast mode, which shows the TV broadcast camera and the "highlights" of the SC, skipping part of the simulation during the SC. This mode is faster than the immersive one. For LMU, I think a good feature would be the option to skip or not skip the SC and jump straight to the restart, just like in NASCAR Heat 5. I’ll leave example videos below.

Red Flag: A less useful feature but one that could be interesting to implement. In F1, this feature was introduced, and basically, you only have the option to change your race strategy before returning to the restart. It could be fun. In online mode, this could be useful if there’s any server instability or something like that. Video below:

SZ could also be introduced.

This is for Leagues Only
Having a Race Control and Stewarding Assignments for server admins, you can be one or both

Race Control is in charge of the running of the race, can can use FCY SC VSC ect ect. Stewards are responsible for reviewing incidents and procedural breaches ect ect.

Race Control Example

There has been a crash in Eau Rouge involving 2 cars, one of the cars has heavy suspension damage, the other is unable to move but is in the runoff. Race Control can decide if they want to deploy a FCY VSC or SC. They Decide to Deploy a SC, Pit Entry is closed immediately, any car that enters now is only eligible for emergency service (x seconds of fuel or if you have a mechanical repair flag , this can be determind by the league and set in an emergency service preset box in the server options menu) Pit entry will be closed for 3 laps after that pit entry would be open however the SC can end at any point at Race Controls Discrection unless stated in thats leagues rules. The car that has heavy suspension damage limps it back to pitlane safely and can get repaired, the car that was unable to move has requested a tow. Once the Field has been neutralised Race Control will grant permisson for the Stranded car to be towed. once the scene is cleared, Race Control decided its time to bring the SC in after 3 Laps (pit entry opens when the track returns to green flag), the cars go back to racing. As there were no wave arounds required (A Wave around is only granted if a car is ahead of its class leader in the SC Queue Race Control didnt need to extend the SC. There will be scenarios where Wave arounds would be required and this could lead to an extension of the SC period, there may also be leagues that will allow for a pit cycle in the SC.

Race Control Suite Features - Maybe required as an extended client
- SC Deploy and End Buttons
- Pitlane Entry Open and Closed Buttons
- Pitlane Exit Open and Closed Buttons
- Wave Around button which the game can sort all wave around eligible cars
- Class Separation as some leagues would like to have Hypercars not being mixed with GT3s
- a Notification Window for Tows, Incoming Penalties from stewards ect
- Individual car select screen to assign penalties, wave arounds, notify the car ect ect

Stewarding Example

Car 43 spun at T9 interlargos after being hit by car 7 when it went for a late move down the inside. Car 43 Reported this ingame by selecting the car going back to the time of incident and then selecting the report button, they will then use a preselect menu to report what happened. The stewards recieved the report and can view, they make their decision then use the preset reasons to give a penalty to the car at fault (NFA is an Option) then its up to Race Control to assign. Stewards decided to give Car 7 a DT Penalty for causing a collision, this was then sent to race control to assign ingame

Stewarding Suite Features - Maybe requires an extended client
- Ability to report ingame
- A Stewarding incident notification
- Preset incident options

Anyone who has anything to add feel free

- Absolutly yes! I think we need the option to activate automated procedures controlled by an AI that is capable of understanding the race situation and activate FCY, Safety Car, Slow zone, etc. as necessary in Weekend Race, hosted online races, Cooperative and Weekly Online Races or Special Events modes, specially when are long races. Apply the WEC regulations in each case being guided by your race engineer by radio, with signals and signs on the screen, (for example when having to unlap yourself or rivals), and reorganize all categories with the original voice of the WEC race administrator. I saw this on TV and regulation and safety car procedure is very complex and a little confuse to understant by fans. But if they could neil this…It would be awesome!. They want to host the Virtual Le Mans series next year they need to work on this. 24h races on iRacing don’t make any sense because of lack of this. You need to regroup cars to still having a race and not being 20laps behind between cars.

Here is an article from WEC that explains mostly how is the regulation/procedure. Probably many details are now explain here.

FYI we had FCY and SC deployed in an intermediate online race yesterday. Was not fully working though and very confusing as no instructions were given.
