Non-European tracks DLC coming

I find it strange nobody mentioning the Traxion news, may be just because we all expect it, and we already discussed AsLMS vs IMSA etc.
Still it was interesting to read:
“We have an idea and a concept for new track content that will reach additional markets...”

Stories based on earnings calls aren’t nothing, but it’s very different to the studio telling players stuff.

since they already have some Middle Eastern tracks, that kinda puts a damper on Aslms being next up. I still wonder about American tracks because so few meet the Grade 1 or Grade 2 requirements. It's not like you can just plant a Hypercar on an old BTCC circuit or American local tracks like Mid Ohio. There are SOME USA tracks that will fill the bill. IF IMSA is the way forward, I wonder just how many tracks we will see?

There are 4 FIA Grade 1 tracks in the USA: CotA, Indy (Oval), Vegas F1, Miami F1.

There are 18 track layouts that meet FIA Grade 2: Arlington Street, Barber, Detroit Street, Indy (Road), Lime Rock, Long Beach Street, Mid-Ohio, NOLA x2, Portland, Road America, Road Atlanta, Sebring, Sonoma, St. Pete Street, Thermal Club, Virginia, Laguna Seca.

Of those, the most desired will be: Barber, Indy Road, Lime Rock, Road America, Road Atlanta, Laguna Seca.

Nords is a class 3 track. Daytona is not on the FIA list.

I haven't seen Arlington, but I certainly would not willingly choose the Detroit city circuit ... The old Detroit at Belle Isle? Maybe. (limited pit lane space if I recall) Sonoma is a lot like Virginia...great driving track, but not the best racing. Also, NOT an IMSA circuit. Portland is old school like Mid Ohio & Laguna. (all tracks I enjoy, just not enough name impact)

My choices would be, if the number of tracks is limited.

Rolex 24hr at Daytona SOLEY for the cachet.
Road Atlanta (Petite Le Mans)
Road America
Watkins Glen
(4 of the 5 circuits used for the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup)

Barber is a glorified Motorcycle course.(although I have a TON of laps there back when I was helping with the rF1Grand Am mod. Really enjoy the elevation changes) Lime Rock is just too small. Ditto for St. Pete, Thermal is just too weird.

2nd tier:
Sebring (the 'other' IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup track)*
Long Beach
Laguna Seca or Mid Ohio (both have shallow uphill pitlanes)
Virginia International Raceway (if you have never driven the climbing esses there....find a sim with this track, magic!)

* I could be convinced to skip Sebring due to the old WEC layout being already available.

I doesn't need to be Grade 1, IMSA Wethertech uses this tracks in 2026 that should be fine for GTPs

  • Daytona
  • Sebring
  • Laguna Seca
  • Detroit Street
  • Watkins Glen
  • Road America
  • Indianapolis
  • Road Atlanta
and also this would be fine:
Canadian Tire Motorsport Park
Miami
Las Vegas Strip

The wording of this “we have an idea and a concept…” leads me to believe they don’t have the IMSA licence and will just be licensing the tracks themselves. It’d be a shame if so, but also a bit strange, as IMSA love giving their licence out. Possibly iRacing having something to say about it as LMU is clearly their biggest competitor right now. LMU getting the IMSA licence could severely dent their obscene business model…

Hope I’m wrong and this is simply wording used for the earnings call, as they know this gets out. Not too long to wait for official confirmation.

At the moment I can not see anything much changing, I can maybe see LeMans Cup as that is ACO based and that also brings one new car, no new tracks. I think if ALMS comes it will be winter time, not LM time. And that will also tie in with the new McLaren Hypercar which is probably already being done now the design is more secure.

There ought to be a new BMW, but I doubt it, aswell as a new Caddy again I doubt it. Not enough different.

I think if IMSA comes it will be a totally new game, as you have lots of other series linked such as MX5, Mustangs, Super Trofeo, Michelin Pilot Cup, they all use different cars, far more ways for this lot to make money from DLC and packs. And also GTP does not to go all the tracks, only some again an easy revenue stream, for the other tracks and therefore packs.
