I can't play LMU anymore – the game crashes when loading at 48% or 50%. I've already uninstalled the game several times, etc., etc. ... nothing works. Do you have a solution? Thanks

I had the exact same issue yesterday, first time ever had this and was playing fine the night before (VR, virtual desktop). Rebooted my PC today no issues. No idea what caused it but sorry if yours is not back up and running. I did google and found this specific issue had come up about a year ago for others. Think an update to the game rectified it.

Try these fixes if your game is getting stuck loading at 48%:

  • Wait for a few minutes, the game will progress after a few minutes.,
  • Perform a Steam Verify files (!verify),
  • AMD GPU users: Close the game, open the settings.json file in LMU/UserData/Player, search for CEF Mode, set this value to 2, save the file and reload the game.,
  • Clear the dynamic.cache file from Steam\steamapps\common\Le Mans Ultimate\UserData\Log\Shaders,
  • Clear this folder on NVIDIA GPUs: \AppData\LocalLow\NVIDIA\PerDriverVersion\DXCache,
  • Reinstall GPU drivers

Well, I've tried everything! And tried again – my PC is fully up to date, graphics card and all... there's nothing I can do! I'm surprised because I'm one of those people who hasn't experienced a single bug since the game launched on day one, and for the past few weeks the game just won't load. It’s a real pain. Luckily I’ve got iRacing and others to make up for it, but it’s really annoying! I’m just counting on future updates now to sort the problem out... I’ve never even experienced this with rFactor 2!!! It gets stuck at 48%–50%, and if I leave it to load for an hour and a half, it ends up at 67%... It happened overnight. You go to bed and the game’s working... you wake up the next day and it’s not working anymore...

Put up a trace file, it might be something you have running on your computer and nothing to do with lmu.
Try disabling some software you have running, disable some startup apps.
I have seen more than a few times that problems like yours that aren't effecting everyone else turns out not
to be anything to do with lmu.

the 48% bug was a common occurrence, apparently it's back.

bit irritating that responsibility is passed to the user, but then again, quite common

I’d like to thank Studio 397 for their email and for keeping in touch! It’s nice of them to keep in touch with players. Once I’ve found the solution, I’ll get back to you.

Right, I’m here to give you an update as agreed. I was hoping that today’s update (04/06/2026) would sort the problem out, but unfortunately it hasn’t… I’ve cleared the cache in Steam, the user data in LMU… checked the installed files, etc., etc. My PC is up to date, of course, and the graphics card too – I only have a 3090 RTX and an AMD 5900X, but I don’t think that’s the problem! Honestly, it’s been two months and I can’t play anymore, even though I’ve always supported the game with my purchases and never left any negative reviews, but now it’s becoming unbearable. Other Steam games work perfectly fine, which really gets on my nerves, especially as I don’t have much time to play at the moment, and when I do want to play, I can’t

Please wait a few minutes; the game will resume after a few minutes. After waiting 15–20 minutes, I get to 60% but then nothing happens

-Run the Steam file verification: already done xx times

-AMD graphics card users: close the game, open the settings.json file in LMU/UserData/Player, search for ‘CEF Mode’, set this value to 2, save the file and restart the game. I’ve already done this

-Delete the dynamic.cache file located in Steam\steamapps\common\Le Mans Ultimate\UserData\Log\Shaders I’ve already done this several times

-Clear this folder on NVIDIA graphics cards: \AppData\LocalLow\NVIDIA\PerDriverVersion\DXCache already done

-Reinstall the graphics card drivers. Done

- I uninstalled Steam and all my games, but nothing worked

- Disable the Steam overlay

I modified the userdata_OLD file to create a new one

I launched the game without any Simucube active pedal or other peripherals

I changed the installation drive

- I deleted RF2
Despite all that, it loaded just once; since then it freezes between 48 and 50%. I think I’ve tried everything... all my other games work, it’s just LMU

- My graphics drivers are up to date
Ultimate Le Mans isn't working, and it's down to the game itself – it's the only one that hasn't been working for several weeks now. I've spent whole days trying to find a solution; thanks for the support, but I'm giving up and moving on. I'll see if a major update ever fixes the problem.

You haven't done that. ;)

I'm also an AMD 5900X user. I've not had these issues, but have helped other players get LMU working on their pcs. Is the game installed on the same drive as Windows? If not, reinstall the game onto that drive. The other option, which can be a huge job, is to do a full reformat.

I agree LMU is much more sensitive than other games. Most other games just work.

I don't understand what you're asking me. Be specific. I'm not 30, and I don't know all the ins and outs.
Go to where lmu is on your computer and go to the folder:
This is my directory >E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Le Mans Ultimate\UserData\Log
Go to your Log folder and you will see a file named trace, the top one will have that name and
that one is your latest.
Upload that here in your reply.

Voici mon répertoire : >E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Le Mans Ultimate\UserData\Log
Accédez à votre dossier Log et vous y trouverez un fichier nommé trace ; le premier fichier portera ce nom.
C'est votre dernier.
Veuillez télécharger ce fichier ici, dans votre réponse.
