Thanks for those who downloaded early versions to assist with troubleshooting backend issues and recreating lap upload problems so they can be addressed we should now be ready to go live in a more meaningful way.

LMU Ghost Hunter is an overlay tool for LMU that lets you race against your own ghost laps and compare inputs in real time. Your laps are also uploaded to the cloud where you will be able to select and race against other drivers posted ghosts in order to quickly improve your skills, to get back up to speed on your own previous bests after changing class, car combo's or just in the name of competition and community.

I created this app because I find alt tabbing to review videos and top down comparisons annoying and something of an incomplete learning experience especially when learning a new track and there is so much time to be gained just finding the ideal line. Often applications give little to no information on setups and in this case each ghost lap will have full setup sheets attached.

For the purpose of the beta lap uploading will be on for everyone automatically and you will need to be logged in in order to participate. There should be no personal data attached to the ghost files beyond the name you choose for your account.


Currently a blank slate out there for lap times so it may take a little while for us to build out every combo with good times.

If you are concerned about people seeing your car setups then at this stage the app is not for you so just be mindful.

Expect significant UI changes and polish over the next patch cycle - I will also be pushing to add. VR support, one click setup download ( data already in ), better setup sheet layout, simplify and merge the config and Json files.

What it does:

Ghost recording — automatically saves a ghost lap whenever you set a valid time. Ghosts capture throttle, brake, steering, speed, heading, and sector splits.

Live ghost overlay — load any saved ghost and watch its throttle/brake/steering trace over yours as you drive.

Online leaderboard — sign in to upload your ghost laps to the cloud and compare against other drivers on any track/class/tyre combination.

Audible brake cues— Trigger at the ghost's braking points to help you match the ghost lap. You can customise the tones, beep duration and gap between beeps to your liking.

Session info panel — displays track, car, class, tyre, fuel load, weather, and major LMU game version, app version, ambient and track temps.

Setup sheets — shows basic and advanced car setup sheets for the ghost car. If you don't want your setups to be visible to others this app is not for you. Keep in mind while signed in during Beta.

Sector deltas — S1/S2/S3 split times displayed against the ghost reference. Micro splits are WIP currently even distance splits I will look at building better per track sectors for individual corners.

Rotation comparison - Situational overlay to help give context beyond steering inputs and show how much the ghost was able to point the car at entry and exit. on outlap may need to cross the start finish to calibrate vs ghost. It is offset vs your orientation so when you spawn in the pits at 90deg it throws you out.

Racing line - Situational overlay to help learn the racing line of the ghost without leaving the app

I haven't had a chance to try it yet, I'll probably only be able to get to it next week unfortunately. Are there ghost cars available for Le Mans and Monza currently?

Laps there for lambo and Mclaren at Monza, I will do some also over the weekend myself too. Nothing for Le Mans posted yet but same i will so some myself over the weekend - no promise on speed of lap..................
 
I downloaded and installed the software last night. Set up the accounts as well. I was setting a lap time when the screens all disappeared. I ended up quitting the game and the programme had completely closed. I had to stop playing at that point so didn't look further into it. Not a complaint, will read the instructions and try again on Monday perhaps.

Thanks again for this software, I hope it gains traction and gets many lap times uploaded soon 😀

How did you go? Others logging laps now so we should see things fill up
 
Hi, didn't have a chance to race again but will try for later today or sometime this week. Will get back to you asap 😀

Nice to know others are using your tool as well. Did you develop the software all on your own? Or part of a group? I find it so amazing people can create software like this. Thanks again, will get back to you asap!

In the app dirrectly with an old replay file - No. Longer answer is a bit more nuanced, the ghost laps are pulled from a combination of live Shared Memory recorded live to local memory then edited on completion as well as duck.bd files saved in the games telemetry folder which fills in certain gaps.

It is possible for the most part to create a racable lap from a duck.DB if you have that file and know the lap number, you could send it to me and i can try to build it for you then upload it.

Possible issues - I would have to as a once off populate a few fields which may not be a bid problem, depending on the settings of your JSON file (they are likely standard assuming you had it turned on in settings at that stage.) in that folder the polling rates for certain fields may not quite be as smooth but should be racable, Rotation comparison will not work but this is more of a situational aid anyway.

But yeah if you have it and email it I will have a gander and let you know.

Unfortunately, I only have a .VCR file. But it's a cool idea that could be added in the future. Uploading a telemetry file to the plugin would help beginners better learn the track, since they can't set a really fast lap. I understand that you created an online leaderboard for this case, but there's no information on every car on every track yet, so that might be an option for some users. Also, when you buy a setup, a telemetry file is often included, which I think would greatly simplify learning the setup.

One of the reasons the app is structured like it is, is so that setups can be downloaded and used within the app - currently they are there to be copied manually in a similar layout as LMU screens. Unfortunately I don't think the VCR will have the data to allow it but to be honest I haven't physically verified that.

We are all slow compared to someone even if it is only in different sectors so even posting a "slow lap" can kick things off where other people can then improve on it and get some momentum. I know that i do this at least, eg i saw a lap at Monza the other day in the porsche and it motivated me to load it up and beat it. Neither of us are likely to be getting job offers from Go setups or whatever anytime soon but it is fun and still makes us both better.

It's not a bad idea though maybe I can make a tool or put the option in the app to scan existing tele files and post them as initial placeholders of something to help populate, even if they are missing some fields they could be marked up differently or something.

Appreciate the feedback, happy to help out where i can. If there is something you want to see a lap of I can try to get my fastest lap up - that way you know what not to do...............
