LMU Broadcast Control

Hey everyone,

Last year I begun working on a tool to help with broadcasting LMU for the great communities out there, whilst the game itself has been given some TLC, as things stand the broadcasting tools and overlays are not working for me. I've tried to do this properly and even created a website for it which includes a link to the download.

I've spent many hours and evenings after work crushing bugs and adding new features, I kept putting it off putting it out there, please be gentle with me! There are definitely elements to be improved and added, but I need your feedback to help. There are some limitations due to how LMU via the API handles data and in some cases does not provide, hopefully as the game matures that will change.

I was helping my friend with broadcasts over at adrr.net but this season I am racing (badly), I still plan to help now and then. You will find me in their Discord (link to it on the website), there is a channel dedicated to the app if you want to talk.

Download link can be found here: www.broadcastcontrol.uk

Here are the highlights:

Auto-Update
Live Timing Grid
LMU Overlay & Broadcast Control
Cameras & Replay Control
Beta Overlay -
for use instead of LMU overlay.
Remote PC Support

I plan to keep this free and available to all, there is a donation link on the site. No pressure. I have plenty of ideas and plans for the app, this is only the beginning.

I hope you like.

Paul

Nice one :) Forwarded it to our leagues broadcaster because he HATES the build in LMU broadcast control :D He can probably also give feedback

Bug reported and squashed.

v0.1.6

Fixed

  • Live Timing: Position ("P") column header is now clickable for sorting, allowing users to restore default position order after sorting by another column.

Changed

  • Auto-Update: removed the requirement to close Le Mans Ultimate before installing an update — the app installs independently and doesn't touch game files.

v0.1.7

Added

  • Beta Overlay: Qualifying info now shows "TRACK LIMITS" (red) when the focused driver's lap is invalidated, freezing the timer and resetting sector indicators to white.
  • Beta Overlay: Qualifying info now shows "GARAGE" when the focused driver is in the garage stall, and "PITS" when in the pit lane.

Very useful and looks nice.

Any chance to see it work in Replay mode ?
Or at least get some features, like incidents list and "fast" "go to" clics ?

I mean use it on a Replay offline session and not on a "Live" Session as spectator or player.

[0.1.8]

Added

  • Beta Overlay: DNF badge on tower rows (grey, matching DQ style) with row opacity fade.
  • Beta Overlay: "F. Lastname" name format option — shows driver initial and surname (e.g. "M. Conway") alongside existing Driver and Team toggles.
  • Beta Overlay: race lap-down gap display — shows "+1 LAP", "+2 LAPS" etc. for lapped cars using fractional lap progress for accuracy.
  • Beta Overlay: individual class cycling — when viewing a single class with more cars than the max, bottom slots rotate through remaining entries (same pattern as mixed mode).
  • Beta Overlay: LMP3 class support in class sorting, filtering, and results.
  • Beta Overlay: championship medal colours — gold, silver, and bronze left border on top 3 positions in championship results.
  • Beta Overlay: session results clear button to remove all captured session snapshots.
  • Beta Overlay: starting grid now auto-captures qualifying best lap times and falls back to them when race session has no times yet.
  • Beta Overlay: starting grid sorts by class priority (Hypercar > LMP2 > LMP3 > LMGT3 > GTE) in qualifying/practice.
  • Beta Overlay: show grid button now deactivates other overlays (driver info, qual info, track map, results) and hides in-game starting grid.
  • Beta Overlay: clicking a driver in live timing dismisses the starting grid and shows the tower.

Fixed

  • Beta Overlay: manufacturer badges now resolve correctly for all teams — replaced ~130 stale team-specific entries with API-first manufacturer lookup from getAllVehicles. Fixes wrong badges for multi-manufacturer teams (Iron Lynx, Proton, TF Sport, Iron Dames).
  • Beta Overlay: starting grid badges no longer missing — overlay poll loop now populates the shared manufacturer cache.
  • Beta Overlay: added Ligier manufacturer support (9 vehicles previously showing default badge).
  • Beta Overlay: results gap/best-lap column header now uses session type flag instead of name matching.
  • Beta Overlay: slide-out lap times no longer appear while starting grid is showing.
  • Beta Overlay: auto-cycle field revert — disabling auto-cycle now restores the radio-button-selected field instead of staying on the last cycled field.
  • Beta Overlay: race tower now sorts cars in pits with 0 laps to the bottom instead of position 0.

Changed

  • Beta Overlay: tower font sizes increased across all elements (position, car number, name, interval, pit/penalty badges) for better readability at broadcast resolution.
  • Beta Overlay: slide-out lap time display duration extended from 5s to 10s.
  • Beta Overlay: results page counter centred in navigation bar.
  • Live Timing: manufacturer badge resolution now reads manufacturer directly from standings API, with getAllVehicles cache and car-model keyword fallbacks. Removed team-name keywords from BuildLogoPath that caused wrong badges for multi-manufacturer teams.

Minor tweak

[0.1.9]

Changed

  • Beta Overlay: clicking Drivers, Teams, or F. Lastname on the overlay control panel dismisses the starting grid and shows the tower (replaces previous live timing click trigger).
  • Beta Overlay: focusing a driver in live timing no longer dismisses the starting grid.

[0.2.0]

Added

  • 1v1 Battle Graphic — side-by-side comparison of the focused driver and the car directly behind, showing manufacturer logo, car number, driver name, position, best/last lap, class badge, last lap gap, and center gap. Toggle from the Information section alongside Track Map.
  • Qualifying info sector deltas — S1, S2, S3 labels now show delta times comparing the current sector to the driver's personal best.

Changed

  • Session results — intervals now relative to each class leader. Laps column removed. Gold/silver/bronze medals applied to all session results.
  • Starting grid dismiss — clicking Drivers, Teams, or F. Lastname dismisses the grid (replaces live timing click trigger).

Fixed

  • GT3 badge resolution — manufacturer badges now resolve correctly for GT3-only sessions.
  • Stale overlay entries — entries from previous sessions no longer persist, fixing wrong tower order, ghost drivers, and incorrect 1v1 data.
Full Changelog: https://github.com/Glovepup79/LMU-Broadcast-Control/blob/master/LMU APP/CHANGELOG.md

[0.2.1]

Fixed

  • Penalty badges now show specific penalty type (DT, SG, TIME) instead of generic "PEN" on both the overlay tower and live timing grid
  • Beta Overlay: qualifying info timer no longer shows incorrect time when switching focus to a different driver mid-lap — uses validated hybrid seeding with 90-second sanity check on timeIntoLap.

I really like your beta overlay. I kinda wanna have a tower version that is tailored for using it while driving yourself and streaming :) Does the tower autofocus around me as a selected car? Looks like it doesnt, maybe its possible to show the positions around me plus a selected top 3 of my class?

Thanks, glad you like it.

Its broadcast focussed, there are options like LMU Drive if you are after something for racing.

[0.2.2]

Added

  • Shared memory integration for local PC — reads LMU game memory for native sector yellow flags and collision telemetry data.
  • SM Impact Detection — alternative collision detection using shared memory telemetry. Must be enabled in Settings. Local PC only.
  • Yellow flag causer identification — highlights the specific car causing the yellow in both live timing and overlay tower.
  • Live Timing: green flag flash — class bar flashes green for 5 seconds when a yellow flag clears.
  • Beta Overlay: yellow flag causer highlighting on tower rows — pulsing yellow background and yellow left border.
  • Beta Overlay: per-sector yellow flag badges (S1, S2, S3) in the overlay header.
  • Live Timing: full row yellow highlight when the driver is responsible for a yellow flag.

Fixed

  • Beta Overlay: gap/interval columns now show class-relative values when filtering to an individual class.
  • Beta Overlay: "LEADER" now displays for class leaders in individual class mode and for P1 in mixed mode.
  • Beta Overlay: qualifying info immediately shows "TRACK LIMITS" on focus switch to an invalidated lap.
  • Beta Overlay: fixed false "OUTLAP" display during hot laps.
  • Beta Overlay: outlap tracking clears on session change.

Improved

  • UI responsiveness: polling loops pause during window move/resize, HTTP calls run off UI thread — eliminates stutter when dragging windows.
  • Beta Overlay: toggle actions no longer stack multiple JSON rebuilds — instant response.

Changed

  • Broadcast Control: default replay pre-roll reduced from 10 to 5 seconds.
  • Live Timing: yellow flag detection uses shared YellowFlagState service for consistency with overlay.

[v0.2.3]

Added

  • EULA v1.1 — expanded to 14 clauses (definitions, updates/changes, third-party dependencies, accuracy, data/privacy, future paid features). Viewable in-app via "Legal" button on the Home screen.
  • Broadcast Control: penalty event logging — detects new penalties (DT, SG, TIME) from the WebSocket penalty cache and logs them alongside yellow flags, contacts, and overtakes. Penalty type display matches Live Timing and Beta Overlay (same DT > SG > TIME > PEN priority). Orange row highlighting, filterable via "Penalties" checkbox.
  • Broadcast Control: "Now Replaying" banner — cyan banner above the event grid showing the event type, drivers, and time when replaying an incident. Automatically clears on back-to-live, post-roll completion, or unexpected replay exit.
  • Broadcast Control: active replay row highlight — bright cyan border on the currently replaying event row, visually distinct from the unviewed indicator and type colours.
  • Broadcast Control: auto-scroll to active replay event — the event grid scrolls to keep the replaying row visible.
  • Broadcast Control: auto-hide overlays during replay — LMU native overlays are automatically hidden when entering replay and restored when returning to live.
  • SM collision detection: multi-signal gated algorithm — uses 3D world positions, correlated impact detection (both cars must register impacts within 0.5s), damage change tracking, yaw rate spikes, and speed drops to confirm real contacts. Traffic pass suppression filters clean multi-class overtakes using heading alignment and speed differential analysis. Configurable thresholds and debug logging toggle.
  • Yellow flag causer fallback — when shared memory reports a sector yellow but the slow-car heuristic missed the causer, a secondary check identifies the slowest car in the affected sector as the likely causer.
  • Camera button highlighting — active camera button is highlighted green on both Live Timing and Broadcast Control pages. State is shared across windows, so switching camera on one page updates the other in real-time.
  • Replay camera tracking — triggering a replay from Broadcast Control sets the highlighted camera to TV (game default) and refreshes the button highlight.
  • Starting grid car images — car model images from the LMU game server are now displayed on the starting grid overlay cards, with correct livery-specific images for official liveries and base model fallback for custom liveries.
  • Beta Overlay: session results and mid-race results 25% scale increase — container, fonts, row heights, and spacing all scaled up for better readability when displayed over the game scene in OBS.
  • Beta Overlay: results readability improvements — text shadows, increased background opacity, and dark semi-transparent backdrop panels on header and footer for contrast against bright scenes.
  • Beta Overlay: results subtitle with class label — subtitle now shows session, track, and class filter label (e.g. "Practice · Sebring · Hypercar"). Championship standings subtitle now includes the class label after the series name (e.g. "LMU Series - 2024 · Hypercar").

Fixed

  • Broadcast Control: IsViewed flag now works correctly for overtake and penalty events — previously the getter always returned false for events without a source incident or contact, so clicking them never cleared the unviewed indicator.
  • Beta Overlay: 1v1 battle graphic now hidden during replay mode, results pages, and non-tower overlay states.
  • Broadcast Control: yellow flag causer fallback fixed incorrect JSON property names (slotId → slotID, inGarage → inGarageStall).
  • Trackside camera cursor warp — switching to the Trackside camera no longer teleports the mouse cursor to the top-right of the LMU game window.

Changed

  • EULA clause 7 reworded from "Not Official Timing or Race Control" to "Accuracy" — positive tone emphasising data accuracy while retaining liability protection.
  • Broadcast Control: default replay pre-roll reduced from 10 to 5 seconds.
  • Broadcast Control: "Back to Live" button restyled from green to red for better visual distinction from camera buttons.
  • Beta Overlay: 1v1 battle graphic now shows the car ahead as a fallback when the focused driver is in last position. Cards are always ordered by position (better position on left).
  • Beta Overlay: 1v1 battle graphic scaled up ~20-25% for better broadcast readability — larger cards, fonts, logos, and center gap display.

[V0.2.4]

Fixed
  • Beta Overlay: race interval gaps no longer disappear for lapped cars in multi-class races
  • Beta Overlay: class-filtered tower, 1v1, and results no longer show false "+1 LAP" at S/F line crossings
  • Beta Overlay: session results and mid-race results gap column applies the same S/F artifact suppression as the live tower.

Changed
  • EULA updated to v1.2 — added Section 4A prohibiting removal, replacement, or obscuring of overlay branding and logos. App logo embedded as assembly resource to prevent file replacement.

Just tried the beta Overlay on a practice session and noticed a mistake between GTE and LMGT3.
Broadcast control UI is OK but the beta Overlay is wrong displaying LMGT3 instead of GTE.

All classes : Hypercar + LMGT3 on beta Overlay, but Hypercar + GTE in control UI.

Sorry if it has already been mentionned.

Also, all cars with liveries show LM instead of brand logo.
