During a Championship race I experienced — again — the well-known tyre temperature runaway bug, where tyre temps spike after a minor lock-up and never recover, even on long full-throttle straights. This is a recurring issue that is genuinely race-ruining for a large portion of the playerbase.

REPRODUCTION STEPS
1. Championship race, LMP2 class, Monza
2. Running P1, clean pace for 10+ laps
3. Very brief lock-up (~0.1 sec) entering the chicane during an oncoming overtake on GT3s
4. From that moment, all four tyre temps begin climbing continuously and never stabilise

OBSERVED RESULT
• Front Left: climbed to ~170 °C
• Rear Left: climbed to ~130 °C
• Car became essentially undriveable — no steering response, no confidence
• Temps continued rising even on straights with zero load on the tyres

This destroys competitive races from a single, minor driver error that would be inconsequential in real life or any other sim. Many players have reported the same, but still there is no fix.. after 4 months or so...

SUGGESTED INTERIM WORKAROUND IF POSSIBLE
A hard cap on maximum tyre temperature (e.g. clamped at a physically plausible ceiling) would at least prevent the infinite runaway and keep the car partially driveable. It's not a solution, but it would stop races being thrown away entirely.

I fully acknowledge this may be a complex physics/thermal model issue — but given how often it's reported and how severely it affects race outcomes, it would be great to get at least some process update and a temporary mitigation in the meantime.

Thanks for the continued work on the game. 🙏

Temperatures are made up anyway. Pick the lowest possible temperature, overcast (meaning no sun), no warmers. Let the car sit still for ~4 minutes. Brake temps go over the ambient, tyre temps go over both the ambient and track (screenshot from lambo HY on softs).

What is it, webasto in a race car?

Also I am almost sure that after I got a flashing tire in HY (and 0% tyre life in UI), took a pit stop without changing it and returned back on track, it lost temperature instead of pressure.

From known issues page:
  • LMP2 tyres - Spinning can cause inflated temperatures that are difficult to reduce. This is a known physics issue being worked on.
