LM Ultimate VR thread

Just search for USB-C extension cables, of the length you'd need, and I'd recomend one with a right angled male end, as that would allow the cable to run along the Quest 3 arm better.

I suppose there might be a very slight bit of signal/voltage loss, across any additional connections in any cable, but I'd very much doubt it would be noticeable, certainly to the human eye.

With the Virtual Desktop equivalent of ASW always on, I'm still getting a solid 90fps, with almost all of the LMU graphics settings being maxed out and stutter free. I have a 5800x3d and RTX4080 Super by the way.
Ah yes, an extension. I was searching for a male to female USB-C cable. I agree that signal strength loss wouldn't be an issue with a good cable, at least under 3m given the link cable length. It would actually have more power you'd think out of the PD adapter than a motherboard. Nice setup, hard to beat an X3D!

I don't technically need to other than removing the ziptied adapter but now with the bungee strap holding the weight it's ok. I'll just bookmark it for later.

My man, congrats on those settings, do tell please how u manage that!

I use linked connection at 72Hz 1.3x resolution (5408x2912) and I cannot even get close to the settings you have on my 7900xtx.
Am I missing something? I also use only 17 visible vehicles, and when I race multiclass I get big downward spikes, even if vehicles are not visible...
I have the same video card and quite happy with the performance and settings I ended up with. If you use VD - ping me and I will send you my settings.

I don't even know how everyone plays this in VR with the exposure issue still present. I can barely see anything during the middle of the day.
Its the reason i put this game aside months ago and i come back to find the same issues. Cmon guys
Ive not had an exposure issue?

I'm sat on the roof of the car ;(

I had a go at setting the floor using the steamVR app and floor of where I sit seems ok; but I am still sat on top of the car!
I do not want to mess with sims normal setting for use with a normal screen.
It must be simple, but I cannot do it.

System:- Meta Quest3 headset via ALVR , SteamVR 2.14.5 wired connection.

Sorry if this sounds like an odd question, but I'll ask it anyway. It's not intended to be insulting, I just have no idea how much you have used VR previously.

Do you have a key or controller button mapped to reset/recentre the VR view in the LMU controls settings?

A key on you keyboard or a button on your controller/steering wheel.

In the Controls settings in LMU, you can map one of those to the "recentre VR view" or whatever it's called.

Then when you're sat on the roof of your car, just press the button or key that you've mapped and it will reset your view.

Edit: never mind. I see I'm being wound up. ;)

I do not mind what people think of my intelligence ; I want to know how to do it.
If all I need is a keyboard mapping to say R for reset that is great.
Not so keen on Steering wheel buttons as I have all those spoken for.

I would prefer that what I adjust would not mess with my normal setup or monitor use.

You'd probably only need to press it once or twice per session, so a keyboard key would be fine. The VR view reset will not affect your monitor view. In fact, I just disable the 2d mirror in my LMU settings. No point having that running and potentially using up system resources, if you have a headset on and can't see it anyway. :)

I did find the VR view reset and as you say that works; however I would like a key to activate it.
keypoard.json file edit
I did find the above that suggested adding "VR : Re-Center head position":29,
But that did not work for me.
Left CTRL would be easy to find on the keyboard while wearing the headset.

On the subject of VR use.
In game how do you activate race mode?
When on a screen I have to reach for the key board when told to go to the grid.
With the head set on I will not have easy access; how do you access the start?

I normally just use my mouse to click the button in the bottom right of the screen.

Also, I did not need to edit any files to get that function mapped. In the control mappings, there should be a tab for your wheel and at least another for your keyboard. Just find that tab and map your Ctrl key to the VR: Re-Center function and the job should be a good 'un. ;)

adding "VR : Re-Center head position":29 to the keyboard.json to the
SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Le Mans Ultimate\UserData\player keyboard.json , does not work because it is the file is overwritten.

Note:- still investigating. Some say the file is overwritten if the file is incorrect. So I may have got the format wrong?

maybe you read old examples from 2024, when a VR reset button had to be written into the .json manually.
Since VR is officially supported you simply can assign it in the UI

Quest 3, post latest update getting this error at absolutely random times.

OpenXR Call failed, aborting

Anyone get this resolved?

Edit: at the end it looks like it was fine after turning on full screen.

P.S. Just no luck with this sim, zero stability on my rig and I've changed bits. USB controllers, motherboards...Audio device issues, too much OC on GPU (not a single stability issue in anything else, had to turn down the OC 50mhz on my 5080), random USB issues. Too much bitrate in Quest over the link causing problems and this is all only with this title.

I had problem setting up Quest3, to use with VR sims until I stumbled on ALVR Launcher .
