G Challenge results manipulation

Now there is a precedent of cheating like this being not act on via (in-game) reports nor penalised effectively in-game (be it auto-DQ or otherwise, read last part).
So you may have spent a hundred bucks on the game and unless you spend more and take part on specific races (no short daily races in championship mode) you will have to deal with people cutting to gain advantage for example. Add people in this forum being somewhat more involved and of course this comments are going to come from people that feel a bit more hurt about something they care. Your post is still needed, don't get me wrong, is more about "this is kinda expected".

And for some if not most people that "wOuLd" leave this is not a "I am throwing simracing into the trash" but just LMU. They will keep enjoying online simracing.

I understand human reviewing costs, but if the alternative sucks then there will be complains.
If your subscription races are limited, there will be complains.
If your communications to the community suck, you get this.
Of course those complains come from the more involved people, not the majority. It's up to the studio to point what's wrong from people's feedback. I think valve employees in GDC talks and such mention how people are very good at noticing something is wrong but not that good at being precise and usually offering bad solutions. Not just development and play testing but game balancing and player's experience.

Some of the things I see are related or led to this:
- Why this format? Quali via lap times of live races?
-- Wait, LMU doesn't have time trials like R3E, iR or AMS2?
- Should this event appear different in the UI? Does it change which people enter it, their intentions and the experience of racing it?
- Is the matchmaking balance between SR/DR/10-race badge leading to good races over the spectrum of fast/slow | safe/unsafe | rookie/experienced?

And less relevant to this case but might as well:
- Is the matchmaking balance between SR/DR/10-race badge easy to manipulate for premades?
-- Should be a way for easier to run with friends?
-- Should be a short race format with mandatory pitstop so people that want to do a driver swap can? (e.g. 40min x5 fuel and tyre usage)

To not add salt to injury and repeat the same about communications/PRn't: it would've been an AMAZING moment to remind that they are testing LiveSteward system and is not yet(?) deployed and even PR some "we'll use this to broad the scope of the system".

Yes, I might have hijacked responding to add other stuff get inspired a bit
Cheating will always happen in every game. I have never ever seen a developer, more than one in this case, publically ignore cheating and state it's not policed.

I have never ever seen that, if there's precedent for a dev doing that, then it only serves as an example of more than one developer being utterly and completely tone deaf.

I'm personally done with LMU. It's a fantastic bit of software, ruined by this situation where cheaters are defended and supported and the poor gits paying for it are the ones who get cheated. Im done with this entirely. not done talking about scumbag cheaters tho. But i'll never pick it up and play it again as a result and certainly will not spend money with a company who ignore cheating.

Are you trying to bury the thread in misinformation on purpose or by accident? Rhetorical question
Cheating is rampant in LMU and devs who are employees of the company have confirmed they do not punish it.

If you want to have a conversation talking about that then suggest you contact the devs I am making conclusions based on qualified comments from S397 employees, your opinions are yours but fully irrelevant to the conversation as they are superseded by S397 employees confirmations.
Whatever mate. I personally feel my comments are relevant to the conversation but you are so far gone in this it’s pointless us continuing to interact. And I don’t mean that negatively. You’re on one end, I’m on the other, we’re not going to agree on this.

I get you’re upset over the cheating, I get how someone can be so passionate over it, I respect that. My overarching point is - is it worth getting this upset over in the grand scheme of things? For you it is, and that’s unfortunate the cheaters and the devs responses have had this affect on you and caused you to stop playing the game. But good for you for standing up for what you believe in. I just think you’re a little blinkered in this and not quite understanding what I’m getting at.

I will tell you what this has done, So had a bit of time and fired up LMU for the first time in about a week, Looking through the dailys there was sweet FA that jumped out, All the same few tracks with the same format, Did that silly Sebring course and that was dull as dish water.
So I cancelled out of that as it's starting to get very stale, But you know what I did fire up for the first time in well over a year, Or not since I got my new wheel base, Assetto Corsa, My god, I well and truly forgot just how good that game is, I thought I had a new wheel base as well all the time I was driving.
Gonna get back into LFM, Put LMU on the back burner and start to do some more off line, Forgot what I was missing with AC, It really dose show how far wide of the mark LMU is.

I have consistently addressed the cheating issue and the cheating issue alone. YOU are attempting to make this about me, and about my personality and my views, hidden in passive aggressive comments and fake praise.

So i would frankly expect you to stick to the matter at hand. Employees of S397 have confirmed that cheating is not punished. This is a disgrace. twisting the narrative to talking about me and my view and feelings on the matter is frankly ridiculous.

aaron0288 doesn't strike me as a person who doesn't want the cheaters go free, but he (?) wouldn't let it destroy his gaming experience in LMU. At the same time DingBatDave, you're very invested in this, which is of course correct, but you're destroying your own simulation experience because of it.

Maybe I'm wrong in my assumption, but battling cheaters and enjoying the races you do aren't mutually exclusive. I keep on racing, because I like it, at the same time my assumption of the moral compass of S397 got a serious knock. And I will continue to remember how they failed to handle this properly.

More cheaters will pop up in the future - as S397 doesn't want to punish them - so it will make it easier to put fuel to the fire that S397 started by not adressing this when there was only a bit of smoke. Soon it will be a wildfire, and they can't keep on using the same "turn the other cheek" behaviour they did in this case.

I'm quite sure Luke's "content creator" and "beacon of the community" badge are still active. Cause why wouldn't they be? They're the example we should all live by, according to S397's standards. As cheating is considered the normal behaviour, and even better when you don't get caught you can even win prices with it. What I learn from this - but already knew - is to never enter priced events, the dices are loaded from the start, and the house always wins.

Ye, probably i have ruined the game for myself, or did the cheaters ruin it for me. Chicken and egg i suppose. But i refuse to play this game where the DEVS openly refuse to punish cheaters and are in fact friends with them. And yes, im invested, i caught them in the act, and i reaped all the backlash and am still reaping that backlash, you can't imagne how my inbox looks in disco and elsewhere from boot licking scum.

while they get off Scott free. How could i not be invested.

I understand, but the last thing you want is to let it ruin you while they go free - this time. Keep on stirring, but don't let it consume you.

Ignore the guy mate, he does this routinely, it is always your fault, I think you are taking it too far, but that is your issue not his.

it is a tiny part of the game

Smth like a petition would be interesting.
How many people signing would it take for a ban to actually happen?

That's not the way it should be run, the rules are the rules, you don't need an angry mob to imply them, the company should follow their own ruleset and when they don't, well, you'll get more cheaters and a wildfire of people pointing them out.

I'm gonna get murdered here but whatever -
LMU is actually being consistent in how they apply the rules. They don't ban people for bumpdrafting or giving slip or cutting in Dailies.
It's even stated in the rules

As far as I understood it the Logitech Challenge is running alongside the Daily - using it to get the fastet racelaptimes (Yes, bad concept but dead horse, yada yada)
The amount of people who bumpdraft on Le mans is pretty big - so if you ban those three guys, you'll have to ban everyone else too. And I'm not gonna pretend even for a second that the community would've been fine with everyone who bumpdrafted getting banned.

Now I do think Logitech should've excluded them from all further competing in that challenge, but that's up to them, not the LMU devs.

Cheating is a broad term - and it's applicable here. But I would reserve bans for things like third party programs that give you an unintended advantage or exploits that are unintended. The physics and mechanic of bumpdrafting (and not caring about the tracklimit penalties) Were intended. Shouldn't be used, but intended.

I would also refrain from prescribing motive to anyone - including the people who post here. That just gets ugly real quick.

Now if anyone wants to stab me over this comment - please wait until tuesday so I can at least test my new Haptic seatpad thingy. Thank you.

As I concept I hate bumpdrafting - it has no place at all in the racing we're endeavouring to simulate. I'm only a microdot within the community but I'd happily see regular bumpdrafters banned.
In terms of a WEC sim, I think bumpdrafting is basically an exploit of the physics engine.

LMU is actually being consistent
Clearly they forgot to put in a bullet point for cheating in general.
or it might be in some other more general rule. I won't bother to look it up

One of OP's main points, btw., was that cheating is "allowed" in daily races as per the rules.

Indeed. But since cheating like this is expressly forbidden by the posted rules of the game, it's more accurate to state that cheating is ignored by the devs and stewards and by dint of being ignored by those very devs and stewards, it is therefore allowed by association.

Critically the question is open as to whether you or I would escape punishment should we be caught, or is it just the friends of the Devs and Mods as in this case that get away with it.

I have little doubt that if Tom Smith, Dick Jones and Harry Brown (i.e. three 'Joe Ordinaries') had been caught doing it they would by now be serving long bans. Nothing is being done as a 'Content Creator' was involved.

"Content creator" AND friend  i have since learned. And not just him, but all 3 it seems. What a fascinating turn of events.
