DT - Out of position - Reason ?

Hello, a driver had a penalty today at a race on our league.
He got A DT right at the start. Sadly he quited the race :( not understanding what happened i think.

I wanted to know what happened and tell him, to avoid this situation in next races.

I deleted the xml (can't join it here), but i priorilly checked in the xml and there was an incident at "et" 2'39" : ... Out of Position ... Drive-through ... etc.
No additionnal informations at all.

I took a screenshot on the Replay at the "et".
He wasnt in front of the car on the left. He was still on its position (10).

The only thing i can see is that he was out of the line before the green :

I draw some lines. His line (red) was really off the actual good line (green), i think.

Can somebody tell me if it's the actuall reason of the DT ?

It really misses details, at least in the xml file. Very annoying.

The driver's trace file will generally have more than the .xml, though if it really was out of position that's probably (?) all it will say anyway. From your screenshot your reasoning seems sound.
 
He was not weaving.
He was on the right side to see what's going on in front and secure his start.

It's a problem of a lot of person : Too much cautious.

It makes the situation worst most of the time.
Anticipating too much or being too safe can "in fact" cause issues quite often.

Start race needs a lot of respect of other drivers but also confidence in them. We are all here for the same thing, end the race and do our best.

The rule.

Which I consider completely and utterly pointless by the way in most respects, not all.

Is that regardless of your starting position you are not allowed to move away from behind the car in front, so you have to basically follow him until you go over the start line, you cannot move to their inside or outside, and you can not move forward or lag behind.

I find this rule idiotic, as for me, as long as you keep the same distance between you and the row in front, all you are doing is a safety thing, to try and see the lights or see the path ahead. Also it makes the car in front aware of you far more than simply sitting behind.

Fair enough if you are using it to dash though a gap, but for me as usual ACO copped out and made a rule that could help safety to try and stop people taking advantage of a fast start.

probably a rule enacted after somebody got over-zealous weaving to warm up his tires. Usually there is some sort of stimulus to rule making.
The game may have perceived that swinging out of line as weaving. Would have to compare the trace file time stamp with the replay to see if that was the location of the actual infraction.
