This is... not okay...

I don't really care about DR, I just drive. I just find it odd to see a DR loss for finishing the race in P1 merely due to the qualifying position.
In real life racing, qualifying doesn't even score you any points, only the race result is what matters.
This feels wrong to you because you’re treating it like championship points, where (qualifying bonus points aside) it’s only the race that counts.

This is driver rating.

If you’re a team boss hiring drivers, you’re down to 2 on your list, all else is equal but one averages 2nd in qualifying and the other averages 8th, which would you choose?

(I know, it’s a silly simplified hypothetical; but qualifying is a skill, so counts towards DR)

If the guy in 8th wins the race, I'd pick the guy in 8th. That's why qualifying shouldn't turn a DR gain into a DR loss. In the end, the race result is what matters.

Yeah, that’s why I said it’s simplified. “All else is equal” would mean neither driver seems better in the race, so you’d take the better qualifier to minimise the risk of race start accidents, and have someone capable of more outright speed.

And of course in reality it’s never really that black and white.

Anyway, I do understand, since the race results reflect both qualifying and race performance to some extent. Maybe they’re just choosing to incentivise trying in qualifying, dunno.

It is 'interesting' though. Having had two Multiclass Championship races at Le Mans in which I qualified better than I was expected to (I raced OK, but not as well as I qualified) I was a bit surprised to see a nice DR gain in both events (thanks to the 4x multiplier) - all of which seems to have been down to my 12 minute qualifying performance generating a lot more positive DR than my 90 minute race performance. The first time I did the event several days ago I didn't qualify at all as I couldn't get in in time. I raced OK but lost a lot of DR because of the non-existent qualifying. It's something I'll bear in mind for the future, having had 'middling' DRB3 reduced to close to B2 by some poor championship efforts recently. Like Oblit0r, I think it appears to be weighted too heavily towards qualifying. As I've said plenty of times recently, 'it is what it is' and there is no inclination to revisit it, so that's how it will stay.... ;)

there's another issue to take into account, i've finished races higher than expected because of incidents occured in front of me, now the system thinks i should qualify and finish in the top 3 even if i'm 2 seconds off podium pace (a recent example is le mans, where podium finisher were lapping sub 4', while i was lapping above 4')

this creates an endless loop where the system expectations are inflated by casualties or lucky results and when they are not met (cause i didnt get lucky this time) the loss is significantly bigger than it should be because the system thinks i've underperformed

bogus incidents? did not go into pits. how can i get a penalty for drive thru speeding?? I got DQ'd for it but I did not pit or speed in pits!

Is it possible you got a drive through at the start for speeding? If you dont have the hud visable you dont see any warnings from race control, for eg. The trace file will help the devs.

Yeah I agree. The fact you got a DQ says to me you ignored a drive through. Either at the start or you passed someone illegally and didn’t give the place back before the timer ran out.

Start was clean. The 2 contact incidents happened - honest competitive incidents - but there was no other incident or post hit that i can see on the replay. I was running alone, not in traffic. The DQ is for 'drive-thru speeding'. I did not pit and saw no penalty or pit-in warning. This is all i know.

So you had the hud on and no notifications at the start or during the race for illegal overtakes, too many track limits warnings etc? I would certainly post this in the bugs section if so with all the trace files so that devs could at least take a look.

Thanks. I will use the bug report.

Cheers.

The bug report section on this forum is huge! Is there an 'SR DR glitch' report thread somewhere? Over on Discord maybe?

I looked at a trace file. There is no race recap info. Is there a race reporter in LMU?

Thanks.

Just watched the replay: I spin at 2nd chicane 1st lap as I was hit while 2-wide into the chicane. I got disoriented and was unsure how to rejoin the track. I briefly went the wrong direction and then did cut across the infield instead of using the run-off area.

I probably got a drive thru for that but I did not see a message in HUD, which is all active as per my settings.

I was able to drive several laps before the DQ. Still, the reason given for the DQ is not accurate in description.

Cheers.

Can you put the trace here? It should say something buried in there.

Your excursion doesn’t sound likely, you would have lost too much time (and going backwards won’t give you anything before it DQs you) for it to ping you for it.

hope this is the right trace file:

getting 'file too large' on 2nd attempt at posting trace file. time of race on trace different from replay time.
