The state of the driving etiquette and reporting system on LMU

There's blame on all sides throwing your toys out because you don't agree with others opinions doesn't help the situation. It's simple the system isn't perfect and most people acknowledge that but also there are more than a few people here who think because they've been hit really hard in one race that therefore they are being blamed for that one race, however most will blame the system rather than acknowledging that they also had a part to play.............

If you're shouting at everyone on the motorway maybe it's not their driving?
people do what the system allows them to do, when they realize there are no consequences for their actions they keep repeting them and this is where we are right now.

If, while racing, another driver hits you and forces you off the track to overtake, often causing you to crash into the barriers, and the system penalizes you with a significant loss—even greater than the one received by the actual culprit—it's because these situations aren't being handled correctly. Add to that the fact that there's no penalty even if you report the incident. I'm talking about daily races, not paid championships.

The problem with all of this is that it's unfair to the victim and beneficial to the offender, and the competition loses its essence.

Personally, I know what to expect and I compete knowing the score and what to expect. I reset my mindset every day. Best regards.

After reading the comments on this topic, a clear conclusion emerges regarding the opinion of the system's defenders: the blame lies with those who complain; they are the ones creating the problem.

I think something must be wrong with the system, but if we don't all see it, there's little solution, if there's truly any interest in improving it. Best regards.

Exactly. In my case, even after 700+ hours it isn't enough to provide reasonable doubt that systems don't work as intended im just another complainer

And yea there's no hope of 'us all seeing it'. It took the other moderator above 2 message before resorting to some childish comment and misinterpreting what I said.

Bingo.

when you get pushed into the barriers you get penalized harder than the offender, who keeps doing it every race and you get told it's your fault or he gets penalized as hard as you which is not the case.

They will say there's no solution to fixing it.

At this point they'd be better off just getting rid of dailys altogether, replacing it with the custom hosted lobbies like how ACC was and allowing those communities to monitor their own servers letting them to issue server bans, penalties etc. They could probably even create a separate rating system to keep most people happy with the private custom servers.

If the report system is active and functioning on Championships then there's no reason as to why it shouldn't be working exactly the same way with dailys. I get that it's behind a paywall which includes incident protests but if that's the reason as to why reports work for a small section of the game and not as a whole then its such an extremely poor system to have introduced considering there are games out there with a far larger playerbase who offer a subscription service and provide it game wide. Not just to a small section

You want fewer options?

The point isn't about having fewer options.
That's kind of what you're saying though.

Right now you can do dailies, you can do champs (with a sub), and you can do hosted servers.

You're suggesting getting rid of dailies. So then there's hosted (with those admin in charge of their own servers and players), and champs.

Then you mention other games with subs, where everyone has better stewarding... and you can do that in LMU already, by paying for a sub. So here you have the same option, plus you can do dailies.

We'll see if the Live Steward changes things in the future, but dailies aren't run to the same standards because that stewarding takes resources, which is what the subscription pays for. Can't have something for nothing. It's up to the user to decide what they want to do.

(doesn't mean I like the dirty driving that happens... but if someone can actually come up with a solution that works, go make some money from it)

I detest ratings systems because they are never going to be right and they are always going to penalise drivers who do nothing wrong as this is all the tech can manage.

ACC is far tougher as everything you do is rated, the ratings work better than here in my eyes as they scale up or down, and it is also as easy to cheat there as here, you can just race offline to ramp up your safety rating, as here you can just underqualify, start at the back and pass loads of cars to make your points gain better.

Sadly people are so used to ratings systems know they bitch and moan if they are not there (mainly streamers) racing was just as good, just as fair, and probably even better without them, now you are so afraid of touching someone you are over cautious and too hesitant which brings unpredictability and problems in itself.

The start of a race should be fraught, exciting and dangerous not endless avoidance in case you lose a rating ffs, it is boring, picky and overly finicky here. To gain SR you HAVE to be careful, it is very hard to be aggressive early on in this game without hitting people, that is plainly ridiculous, unrealistic and poor.

Hi LMU, just did a hosted server and had a guy taking everyone out eventually the mod D'qed them but not after ruining a 1.5hr race. i get it your flooded with Reports already and hosted is external but can you look into adding a feature where we can ban the user by steam ID and the stream ID that purchased the game so they can't just use family sharing to make a new account and then come back in and kill us the next time we make a hosted lobby as it's a joke ATM.

Seems a valid request to be able to filter someone on a private server.
I don't know how hosted in LMU work but i guess you have a black list and a white list like on all server

Best way if they don't have it :
Make it with a password.
Use a free forum / discord to have people and they need to have acces to a special channel to have the code.
You will be able to filter quite easily

Most of us do that, the issue is even with hosted is people can build smurf accounts discord accounts etc. and it gets nigh on impossible to get rid of them

But what I do find is, if that happens then the person is usually on very good behaviour because they don't want to get found out. Even by blocking IP addresses you can soon get round that with a VPN.

Leagues just have to be vigilant
