This specifically the HY Porsche as I've spent quite some hours in of late, possibly applying to all cars.
Aside from the obvious lock ups which flat spot the tyres, resulting in poor performance and vibration white finger.
More subtle, your in the groove lap after lap, the grip is there where you expect. You and the car dancing like Fred n Ginger, at one....... Then oops Ginger goes over on the ankle!! (A very slight lock, a bit of a skid, or a bit of an over step out of the back, a 4 wheel drift). But Fred gathers her up and the dance continues....but something just doesn't feel quite right at the next turn. Has the band lost time with the music? The tyres are not quite the same.....but a couple of laps later the tyres are coming Back!!! Ginger has danced off her slight injury, normal foot grip has been restored. The tyres after a few laps have worn off the rubber that's been torn/forced against the norm or the like.
Now it might just be me and my mind feeling this, confidence can quickly end up round the ankles when having a moment. Or is it really this close to real life, where you need to look after the tyres if you want consistent reliable grip. Not just the obvious locking up, properly looking after them.
