Telemetry Tool for LMU

Version 15.03 is here!

You can see the extended release notes here: https://www.overtake.gg/downloads/telemetry-tool-for-f1-25-and-many-other-games.77557/
and you can download the Tool there or from https://www.overtake.gg/downloads/telemetry-tool-for-lmu.73664/

This version has plenty of LMU related little tweaks and additions.

Notable LMU related fixes/additions
  • LMU, new plugin + use of plenty of new data: Plugin must be updated, the Tool will notify, if old plugin is used
  • Silverstone track map + updated ELMS related data
  • For Engineers/redirect users: They will now get all the data, as the local player has, including NRG, AI levels, Penalties etc.
  • Fixed some car model associations within different teams
  • Added Stop-and-Go and Drivethrough indicators.
Notable additions/fixes
  • JRE updated to Java 25. Custom JRE binaries for Win, Linux (x64) and Mac (x64).
  • New Stint data view, shows e.g. how long each stint was, fastest lap + top speeds
  • R3E, new Shared Memory format support
  • AMS2/F1 25, new data/trackmaps
  • RF2, new plugin + changes to the Tool to accomodate that - the plugin must be updated
  • Fixes/changes/additions to most of the supported games
  • HTTP-server data additions + fixes
For list of changes, see the ReadMe.txt.

Updating from older versions: Just unzip .zip on top of your old installation. There is new AMS2 map list file + new LMU trackmaps, which you might want to copy too. Also there are some new libraries + new plugins for LMU and rFactor2

Clean/New install. Unzip the files to anywhere in your system (e.g. under 'Program Files\Telemetry Tool' or to somewhere else). On the first run the Tool will ask location for data files (if necessary). Also update the plugins for AC, LMU and RF2, if you use those games with the Tool.

For install help, see the help at https://telemetrytool.com/install

The new version has been tested quite a bit, but there might still be something odd lurking around. If you find anything odd, please let me know.

Enjoy, and get faster.

I have a problem: when I have this app open, it changes my settings before going to the pits. For example, it automatically activates the brake or tire pressure changes.

Good catch. This is a bug in LMU, which I have reported.

I don't know how long this been in the game (I suspect one of the latest updates added it). The symptom is that if you call certain LMU Swagger URL, then the 'Change brakes' is set to yes. And I was calling that script from my Tool at 10Hz level. I will most likely do a beta with the feature disabled. Sadly this means the VE data + some other data will not be available until there is a fix to LMU.

Cheers.

I have a beta, where I have fixed/mitigated this issue in the Tool. If anyone is interested in testing this and/or want to get a fixed version, PM me here or in Overtake.gg.

Cheers.

Hi! My friend and I are having trouble with telemetry. We're connected via Hamachi and have port forwarding enabled. Even though he enters my listen port and Hamachi's IP address, i'm not not receiving any telemetry.

Hi,

It should work, many of my users are using Hamachi.

So:
1) make sure the Hamachi is up and running, and that you can see each others' computers, e.g. with 'ping <driver IP>'/'ping <engineer IP>' or with tracert 'tracert <driver IP>
2) Setup the redirect from the driver. If you use LMU/iRacing/rF2, make sure the protocol is set to TCP, as with those games the packets can be larger than allowed for UDP.
3) Make sure on the engineer side the tool is listening to the same port, as you set in 2) and that the protocol is same as in 2)
=> With this it should work.
If not, check the windows firewall logs on both Driver and Engineer side to see, if it is blocking the traffic.

Cheers.

does not load up to me it says win\bin\win\javaw.exe missing
Here I assume you are on Windows.

So when you unzipped the package, it should have created the bin directory with the Custom JRE already unzipped.

So I would re-unzip the package to the install directory and then check, you have the
bin > win > bin directory there and that it contains the javaw.exe (and java.exe).

It might be that your Antivirus is blocking (or even removing) the javaw.exe, so if after the re-unzip you see the javaw.exe there, but you cannot run it, then most likely reason is false-flagging by your Antivirus/firewall software. You can see the virus-scan report of the javaw.exe via virustotal.com and you can re-scan the binary there.

Cheers.

Re packing please and I will disable my antivirus also …but I believe that this is not the issue because I should take the massage from my antivirus that this and this has been suspended or blocked

Is there a reason, why you are running the script as admin?

If you run the .bat file as normal user, it should work. If you run it as a admin, you get the response above. I don't know why it works like this, I need to do some testing, but most likely when run the script as admin, the "working directory" is 'windows\system32', not the install directory. I think you can fix this by setting the 'Start in' directory to be your d:\program files\Telemetry for the shortcut.

Cheers.

First of all, kudos for creating such a great tool.
I am personally just a slow driver which comes back to simracing every few years. I remember back in rf1 days I was using Motec a bit for some easy setup adjustments.

I wanted to start using your tool the same way and as I am driving only beginner series with fixed setups so far, I can change only break force, abs, TC, break bias.

And I was nor able to find some relevant info, which will show me some direct numbers for those settings. Is it me blind, lmu limitations or just not added to the tool yet.

The most obvious/important are just the graphs for when abs or tc are activated for each wheel. Is it possible to see somewhere in the tool?

Currently, I just have no idea how to set up the break bias really. I guess, only by disablin ABS and doing the test laps 😀

Most of these are the limitations of the LMU. In the 'pre 1.2' plugins you could get the ABS/TC etc settings, but now that is gone until the data is added to the shared memory data by MSG.

There are some "math ways" to get the ABS on per individual tyre, but it is only implemented in the Driving pane and only for LMU, where under the tyre data there is text 'ABS' if the ABS is calculated to be on. This is based on Braking vs. Brakebias and individual tyre brake pressure and is semi-reliable. I could look if the same method could be expanded to some other games (rF2 and ACC) and made as a trace for the Workspace.

I think getting the setup data for Brake Bias from the Telemetry is bit a challenge, as you most likely would need to set that for each track, for each car and partially for different weathers. E.g. in Monza or Silverstone you want to minimize brake distance (front bias), but in a more twisty track you want to enable more rear-rotation (less front bias), and then depending where the engine is in the car, again that affects these choices.

In the Tool you could use on the Workspace's the different Wheel Speed traces and maybe do Math Channel with 'Speed - WheelSpeed' or similar to see how different Brake Bias values affect these.

At least for me it (the Brake Bias) is more of a "feel" thing, but you can use Telemetry to confirm your feel, i.e. are you faster or slower in the whole lap with the different settings. And the TC/ABS are also depending on the tire wear + fuel load + general grip on the track.

Cheers.

This version has plenty of LMU related little tweaks and additions.

Notable LMU related fixes/additions
  • 1.2 data + Paul Ricard track map
  • Plugin is not anymore required by the Tool. (It can still be used, but you need to enable that via 'Settings -> Dev -> Use Plugin')
  • Added "Team Selection" to 'Settings -> LMU Settings' option to select a "selected car/team" from the list of active cars in session. This is useful for Team events, where you want to keep track of your Team's car even after the driver changes. To make it work, join the session, go to 'Settings -> LMU Settings', select the team from drop-down, select the 'use selected team' and press 'Save and close'
  • Added ride-height data to the driving tab's corner data
  • Many multi-car data tweaks/fixes/modifications
Notable additions/fixes
  • JRE updated to Java 25. Custom JRE binaries for Win, Linux (x64) and Mac (x64).
  • New Stint data view, shows e.g. how long each stint was, fastest lap + top speeds
  • R3E, new Shared Memory format support
  • AMS2/F1 25, new data/trackmaps
  • RF2, new plugin + changes to the Tool to accomodate that - the plugin must be updated
