Telemetry Tool for LMU

I have added support for Le Mans Ultimate to my Telemetry Tool.

Originally the development of this Tool started with a need to have real-time Telemetry for F1 2011 and F1 2012. Over the years the Tool has expanded in features and it now supports over 20 games. And I always add support to the games I play and now LMU is part of that list, so the support was added ...

You can use the Tool for real-time and offline Telemetry analysis, and you can also use it for race/pitstop tactics/strategy and race engineering. There are many different options for analytics/analysis/engineering:
  • Real-time telemetry + offline telemetry with powerful tools
  • Views to compare your own laps,
  • Views to see data about the other cars in the session
  • Compare your laps against other drivers' data, you can collect this data automatically as you join/drive a session
  • Historgrams/x-y plotters,
  • Multilap telemetry comparison
  • Statistics for whole session/subsequent sessions
  • See in real-time e.g. what gear etc. the other drivers are using or follow another car to see their input (brake/throttle/gear + speed in LMU)
  • See for all cars in the session their delta to the driver's own best lap and to the selected "comparison lap" i.e. the BLUE lap.
  • Two different trackmaps, normal map and circular map to better visualize what is happening on the track
  • Data to help make race strategy decisions
  • You can forward the data from the Tool to other tool, so you can either have race engineer looking at your data or you and act as race engineer for your driver
To use the tool:
1) download the .zip from Overtake - Telemetry Tool for LMU or Overtake - Telemetry Tool for F1 24 and many other games and unzip it to some directory in your system (on Windows can be put also under the 'Program files')
2) Start the Tool once with the runWinLauncher.bat (or on Linux/Mac with the .sh file). The Tool will ask for location of data files etc on the first run.
3) Copy the LMU plugin (from <Telemetry tool install dir>\bin\lmu_plugin to the <LMU install directory>\plugins
3) Restart the Tool in LMU mode (either with the launcher via runWin_Launcher.bat or the directly runWin_LMU.bat)
4) Start LMU. If the plugin was installed correctly, then the data should arrive to the tool

And there is more detailed install help at https://telemetrytool.com/install/

Check the ReadMe.txt for more help e.g. on install on Linux/Mac.

Also check the ReadMe.txt for the list of features.

Enjoy, and get faster.

Cheers.

Some screenshots , the UI has two color modes: Dark and Light. Below are shots on both options.

Driving view. show controls + tyre related info, like OMI profile and some other driving related information. There is additional "ahead telemetry", which shows the controls of the car infront (distance adjustable)". This is handy way in live session to learn from the other drivers. In this shot ROB is driving on 2nd gear at 144 on full throttle.

Just a little usability nod.

If someone is using the Tool as race engineer, it is easy to change views etc.

But if you as driver are not in such a position, that you have a race engineer, you can setup the Tool to change view with certain actions in Game. You setup this in 'Settings -> General Settings and there select the "Tab Change" action from the dropdown.

What I do with LMU is that I have the Brake Bias bind to a rotary on my wheel, and if I want to change the view/tab, I just do quick up and down with brake bias. You can select, which views are in the rotation. Normally for racing, you might just have Map/Circle map, Race Info and maybe RaceTiming/One-Lap-Timing selected. For P/Q you might add Telemetry back to the rotation, as having live Telemetry in P is pretty useful, but in race in can unnecessary distraction.

Cheers.

All I really want is something like Pribula provides on GPL. A simple visible guide to sector times, showing improvements and deficits. If I'm honest, all the rest of the info is overkill for me. I'm a driver, not a racecar engineer... :ROFLMAO:

Hello Iko🖐️,

I just wanted to give you my thanks & my absolute respect for your programming skills & I'm sure
that the people who can use it will use it. I wish you all the best for your future & your loved ones ✌️

Well, in the Race Info you have the live laptime (+speed) + sector times against the selected "comparison lap", i.e. BLUE LINE. the BLUE LINE can be session fastest, your fastest on the track/event combo or a selected lap (opponent or your own lap).

Or you can open the Race Timing and there press the "Laptimes" button and you will have simple view of just laptime + sector times. Or if you want to be bit more adventurous, you can open the 'Session History' and get the above "single player history" window, which also gets live updates. I could quite easily create a simple Pribula type view, but I think the RaceInfo as such is already there, and the 'Session History' is pretty simple view with good info.

Cheers.

Thanks Iko. I haven’t tried anything yet, but I want something that displays as I drive (like Pribluda), that I can glance at to see what I’m doing, not something that I scrutinise out of the car. Really just more detailed info than we already have in the top right corner.

In my driving system I have an extra display. That makes it pretty easy to look at the data. You can focus on driving and then when needed, a quick glance at the data is sufficient. As I use the tool myself, I always aim to make it easy to use while driving, or at least have some screens, a driver can use. And there are many UI coloring options, so you can tailor many things to suit your situation.

And if you don't have extra display, but happen to have a laptop, you could forward the data from the Tool to the laptop and use that as "extra monitor". And in the Tool there is also option to use the included http-server. With that you can connect to the data via e.g. iPad or phone. There are some simple examples on how to access the data (one for phone, one for tablet) and if you are really into that, you could build with the provided REST API your own "page" just to be the way you want it to be. Quite many of my users have gone that route, as they publish their own data via that API.

Cheers.

Thanks for that - sadly I'm not 'into' building these things. I just find it strange, bearing in mind that Pribluda has been around for, what? 20 years? that something that simple isn't available. Or is it......? ;)

I'm hoping I've managed to configure TinyPedal to give me the info I need. I'll try it later. The displays on TinyPedal are just sooooo small and difficult to adjust....

Version 14.4 is here.

  • Added forecast to the Circle map
  • Added setting for 'LMU install dir'. This helps to get bit more data, like AI level to the save files.
  • Made the Tool behave nicely, if/when there is an game update, for which the data is not yet there in the Telemetry Tool.
Other notable additions:
  • Full iRacing support added
  • Tentative AC Evo support added
  • Tentative LFS support added
  • Updated JRE to Java 23
  • Changed AC/ACC/ACE/AMS2/PC2/R3E to work without the need to run the Shmem-to-UDP relay
  • Added Notes system, you can add a note on the tracks, e.g. as 'Gear suggestion', which is then shown on the Tool, when you are near the 'note point'.
  • Added traction circle to Workspace. It shows real-time-data or when zoomed in, data only for the Zoomed area
  • AMS2/LMU/R3E new track/car/data added
For list of changes, see the ReadMe.txt.

Updating from older versions: Just unzip .zip on top of your old installation.

Clean/New install. Unzip the files to anywhere in your system (e.g. under 'Program Files\Telemetry Tool' or to somewhere else). On the first run the Tool will ask location for data files (if necessary). Then copy the TelemetryToolPluginForLMU.dll from <telemetryTool install dir>\bin\lmu_plugin to <LMU install dir>\plugins

For install help, see the help at https://telemetrytool.com/install

The new version has been tested quite a bit, but there might still be something odd lurking around. If you find anything odd, please let me know.

Enjoy, and get faster.

Positive this is user error, but the program
Keeps telling me it can’t find javaw. I’m assuming I must have installed Java in the wrong directory?

Realize what I did now.
Put a shortcut on desktop to the launcher and it couldn’t find the files to load.
Run from main directory and it runs now

The javaw is in the provided custom JRE in the bin\win\bin directory.

For the shortcut, you have to set the "Start in" to be the location, where you installed the Telemetry Tool, like this: "C:\Program Files\TT". If you create the shortcut by dragging one of the .bat files to desktop, this gets created automatically.

NOTE: if your System's default java is Java 23 + JavaFX, then you can just put in the Telemetry.jar, but if your default Java is something else, then you need to set the Target to use the java (or javaw) from the provided custom JRE, bit like this:
"C:\Program Files\TT\bin\win\bin\javaw.exe" -Dsun.jnu.encoding=UTF-8 -Dfile.encoding=UTF-8 -cp Telemetry.jar apps.RunMe --game=LMU

Cheers.

I did everything right to get it working but only the timer is working, all the windows are working but no data.
Yes I installed the plugin.
Yes I started lmu first.
Yes I ran runWin.bat and selected lmu.
The timer will run when I start driving and stop when I ESC to stop driving, and that's all that happens.

From the Tools' viewpoint, this means only the base 'Scoring' packets are coming through and the large Telemetry and VehicleScoring packets are not coming through. I have seen this few times before, but e,g, in one case it just went away like "by magic".

In general this is symptom that for some reason your system does not allow large UDP packets through (or there is severe packet loss) on the local connections. To find out what is the maximum size of the allowed UDP packets, you can run 'msinfo32' and search for 'RSVP UDP' and under there the 'Maximum Message Size'. In my system (Win10) and my test laptop (Win11) it is 65527 bytes.

Another thing you can do, is to check if there is more info on the <LMU install dir>\ExampleInternalsXXXOutput.txt. I log data send errors there, so that might be also interesting to know, if there are some errors there.

If you PM me, we can do bit more testing to see, if we can find a way to fix this.

Cheers.

All 3 example internals are this:
###########################
WSA INTIALIZED
########################

-SHUTDOWN-

This was after lmu startup on it"s own, I can probably check once it is running with the tool and I will reply again.

UDP is 65527

We managed to find out the reason, why for some people on LMU and rF2 the Telemetry Tool would not show the data. It happens if you do a single driver session.

This will be fixed in the next version. In the mean time the "remedy" is to play a session with at least 2 drivers. If you really need to driver a single driver sessions, drop me a PM and I will send you link to the fixed beta version.

And yes, you always learn something new. Today I learned, you can actually have single driver sessions on LMU.

Cheers.

Is this tool can be use to retrieve AI telemetry graph? Looking on how their brake in a corner while compare my own brake telemetry. Also I'm curious if 100% AI has different setup of their car, not sure if your tool can check if AI setup info.

After some time we can expect aliens invasion (like in iRacing with Garage61) who drive 1-3 seconds faster than average people
