Shift Horizon function

Just tried Lemans Ultimate and liked it a lot, forcefeedback and graphics are outstanding.

I have set up my triple screen correctly within the files and settings, but like on rFactor2 there is no option to shift the horizon down, to make everything look correct.

I am assuming that it would look great, if i would have my screen height level with my eyes, but thats not the case. I am in a prototype seating position with my 32“ screens directly above the steeringshaft, so my eyes are a good bit lower than the center of the screens, which makes the sidescreens look weird, like they would be pointing up towards the ends.

Most other sims have a shift horizon setting to make everything look perfect around eye height with a triple screen, please please please add that to Lemans Ultimate. Its a tiny camera adjustment that adds a huge benefit for people not being able to mount theyr screens lower.

It didnt exist in rfactor 2 so i dont have any hopes it will ever be a thing.

But most people with triples or even singles dont have their eyes at the same height as the center of their monitors. And it would greatly improve visual comfort and immersion. Its the only feature that keeps me from playing it.

I know there arent many people talking about it and it might be niche, but at least 3-4 major sims have a feature like that. It doesnt have to be per car maybe. But as someome with no idea of how software development works, it may (ignorantly so) sound simple to implement.

That little feature would make it my favorite sim. Per car FFB would be nice but lets not open up that topic

My thread got merged to this. But i will feel like it needs more attention and just merging it makes it look more niche than it actually is
No, feature requests are better together so any votes all get put together. Number of threads doesn't count.

Well, nothing 'counts' - there's no qualifying amount that guarantees anything will happen, not even any guarantee that any feature requests will be implemented.

And in the context of where the game is, no amount of attention is going to make the devs do this next - there's a lot on their list. I certainly hope this gets implemented one day, but the majority of players don't even know what this means (usually they'll think it means Pitch) because it doesn't affect them.

I personally have no idea if this is a 5 hour job or would take a huge rewrite of large chunks of graphics code that assumes a central viewpoint; for the sake of it getting done one day I hope it's much closer to the former.

Thanks for the clarification 👍
Fair point. I know there are more bigger issues to fix and features to implement.

But this is my only con with the game at the moment as i have not experienced many game breaking bugs or crashes personally, i really want to play it more if possible.

Very much missing this feature and I really hope it makes it in in the future. When you've mainly been in a sim that has it, it's a surprisingly big detriment once you don't.
Yeah, we are waiting since release and also waited rFactor2‘s whole life cycle.. I think LMU will fall off before they even start thinking about implementing a real shift horizon function. I mean they can‘t even fix all the disconnect problems and crashed after so much time, i have finally lost all hopes, should have refunded it directly.

Not having the option to adjust the centerline is a complete dealbreaker for me. As it stands, LMU just doesn’t work in a triple-screen setup.

Sure, i could rebuild my whole rig and set my monitor height just for this game, but that can’t seriously be the intended solution, especially when the monitors are already set up at an ergonomic, player-friendly height.

Until this option gets added (and I really hope it does at some point), I can’t consider this a proper sim. For me, it’s basically just an arcade racer you fire up with a controller for a quick session in the evening…

As far as I understand:

iRacing shift horizon = LMU pitch (shift + fov keys)
iRacing Driver height = LMU seat up and down keys

I know with iRacing ctrl + f12 function you can reach extra boundaries, but the basic functions are there in LMU, unless you need those extra boundaries.

Did I miss something here?

EDIT: OK, seems that is problem with lack of precision in adjustment and lack of the red line pointing where is the center of the screen. Which affects mostly triples, distorting the side monitors image.

It makes it worse, the side screens are starting to bend even more. It fixes the camera angle, not the height of the screen related to the drivers eyes sadly.

How is this STILL not in the game? Honestly. It's been years at this point. I can't play at all with my triple screen setup because everything on the side monitors is just distorted like crazy. No way to take this thing remotely seriously without something so fundamental missing for this long.

Pretty sure there’s been no mention of it. Won’t know for sure until each update releases, but I’d consider it unlikely in the short to medium term.

Note as a mod I have no extra information.

Are there any updates on this yet? Could a mod perhaps find out if a dev has at least looked into the issue to estimate the effort required? It would be quite frustrating if this is just an additional parameter for the player camera that could be implemented in 30 seconds.

I’d really like to buy more DLCs and finally move away from ACC to fully dive into LMU. But as long as there’s no prospect of a mid-term fix for this problem, LMU remains unappealing to a large part of my circle of friends. After all, we all have complex rigs and are looking for perfect immersion.

Also still waiting on this…
Any news???

This will be critical to keep the triple screen players…
Back to iracing until then.
