No change in rank after connection loss

Hello :)

Twice recently in an online race I lost connection during the transition between qualifying and the race. I don't know if it's a bug of the game or my hardware, it hasn't happened to me before and I've already spent almost 90 hours in the game. Well, not about that...

I don't know why it was solved this way, but when we lose connection and cannot join a race, the game still changes our ranks relative to that race. This is unfair, even in both directions, because you can receive positive and negative evaluations.

So, in my humble opinion, the game should detect that the player has lost connection/not taking part in a race and this race should not be taken into account at all.

This has been discussed endlessly before.

Anyone can yank a network cable out and claim "i just got disconnected". It's open to abuse and there is no way to differentiate this from a legitimate disconnection.

Please use to the search function to find more posts about this subject.

I didn't think about that, sorry. But who would specifically pull out the internet cable? Someone who has already started the race but didn't succeed? But then the game "sees" that he has already started the race. Maybe there is a solution to this after all.

Possibly someone that has had a bad a race and didn't want it to count on their record and rating.

Or, indeed, a bad qual which will make a good race result difficult.

Obviously it's best if you can work out why the disconnect happened (whether it's your side, the game, or the server) and rectify it where possible, but I think mentally it's good to treat these things as mechanical failures (in a real life sense), which otherwise aren't simulated in the game - by which I mean random failures in no way related to on-track incidents or car abuse while driving.

Makes it less frustrating for me, anyway.
