LM Ultimate VR thread

Thanks for the guides...
Just tried and it work good for me. Now I want VR officially added even more.
Not ideal without HUD but still nice. Makes the cockpits look better.

Short report on VR in LMU.
With openVR it works, my problem is that I always look to the left in the car. All attempts to change this fail, does anyone have the same problem or a solution.
Also the entry for VR in the direct input jons is always deleted when I change something in the settings.

So when VR will be implemented?!
I’m a rf2 supporter and I have been playing only rf2 in the last 11 years.
I will buy this game when vr in implemented
I don’t understand why Studio397 didn’t implement vr at the launch?! It seems very easy to make it working in vr .
it is so easy that MSAA is completely broken and there are no HUD. Clearly, S397 didn't have the luxury to adapt the updated garphics and interface to VR on release day.
And if you can afford it and really want your VR mode, you could consider spending $30 to help the team stay in business.

I think that's because if it was included at launch, then it would need to work well. Otherwise it becomes a point of criticism. So that would mean making the menus work, anti aliasing, HUD, rain, performance etc. Not so easy to implement all of that.

But now it has launched and we can see VR works acceptably, I am hoping they can allow it to work in online races without having to officially support VR yet. I can deal with a few jagged edges and no HUD

I'm so in the no vr no buy camp but bought LMU day one because I really want this dev team and more to see there is a market in the sim category.
Yeah, man, I love how sim racers spent thousands in their pedals, sim rig, and wheelbases, but when they need to spend $30 every three years to support the developers that make the software that would render their equipment useless otherwise, they don't want to. Not that I go to Starbucks, but LMU is the price of 4 cappuccinos. it's really hard to understand.

Isn't it obvious that people wouldn't want to pay for something they can't use? It's a pretty straightforward concept.

And if my 30€ is going to make or break S397/MSG, then it doesn't bode well for their prospects.
Well that's how it works, if no one buys a product it won't be manufactured.

For me, I have my £25 worth already, and I can't yet get online in VR. You can't rent 2 cars and one track on IRacing for £25.

Atm VR is really bad, performance is terrible, it's ugly af with all the aliasing but in car cockpits are a massive step up from rF2.

I hope the cars that cross over between the games get updated in rF2 to LMU standards, like the Porsche GTE, it looks great with all the detail and materials used in LMU.

I guess this is why there is performance issues and why VR has been held back, my 4090 can't cope on the Reverb G2 at default Steam VR resolution.

If they get performance better and enable AA it could be a pretty awesome looking sim.

Thinks are not that simple.
I've bought the game and i don't know if i'm going to use it.
I use rF2 and my fav cars are openwheels, PC Cup, BMW M4 Class1, Caterham, etc.
I almost never drive GTEs or LMPs and i never drive GT3
I have bought LMU to support S397, but LMU can be the end of rF2.

It's not always a matter of money.

By my personal experience, I'M really impressed despite VR is a beta , I can drive all cars, all circuits for long sessions without crashes or bugs. Better choose to race in practice with few cars , (less is better) , it is not yet optimized but with Reverb G2 i see very clear, fluid FPS despite some stutter some time.
Using Steam VR for centering view, by the dashboard select "center" and for the rest of the race the view rest centered without the need to repeat operation.
I am really looking forward to se VR completely implemented, since now it's already fantastic !! good job

hello.
away from my rig for another few days so any PICO headset users (Neo3Link or P4) that can confirm the hack work on those as well?
I expect it does but happy to hear back from people here if they had to do anything else than the method described in this thread.
thanks

Yes, works fine with Pico 4 and Virtual Desktop in OpenXR mode.

thanks.you also tried to run it in steamvr with
No, I didn't try many options yet. VD set to VDXR, opencomposite switcher to opencomposite, openxr toolkit set to CAS 100% and resolution 3600x3600 worked very well on my system. In overcast weather it looks quite nice.

Yes this is my experience, the sun light highlights the aliasing, overcast seems to reduce it. It just needs a touch of MSAA, can't wait for it to be enabled/fixed, it's going to look absolutely glorious.

That's the trick: low light conditions to limit the amount of shimmering.
At sunset, sunrise, I limit the amount of "max headlights" to 10 in the settings file to avoid perf problems.
