LM Ultimate VR thread

Hi, i did a motherboard upgrade and fresh Windows + Oculus Rift S / Meta software install, launched the game, it ran fine for one lap, then it crashed and i get this error message on launch, see pic.

Anyone have any clues on how i can fix this? It launches on my monitor, but will not launch in VR any more, it crashed and gives this error. I use Oculus Tray Tool, even tried launching without it on, i never even used Open XR so i have no idea what is happening.

Cheers, p
FYI, i managed to resolve this issue by installing OpenXR toolkit, then i launched LMU from SteamVR and it worked fine there, then i was able to launch it normally from my monitor 2D and after launching fine it worked in VR again as before. I then deleted OpenXR toolkit and went back to using Oculus Tray Tool, and it has worked fine since so far, so whatever i did seems to have reset something and fixed the error. (And yes, not sure that Trace Log file was any use, i know...)

First off, thanks to all of you for providing usefull information on optimizing stuff!

I found a fix for the notorious 'Bahrain at night' performance drops. Setting track circuit details to low makes a big difference for me. You barely notice the change in details. I can now race at night here without the horrendous fps drops. I can even do this with heavy rain at night (!) although there are some drops here and there but definitely manageable.

Big caveat though: I'm running just one class (GT3). Multiclass is still too demanding at this track even with visible cars set to 13 or something.

Setup:
RTX 4080, 5800X3D
Pico Neo Link 3 (Display port connection) at 100% resolution
OpenXR fixed foveated rendering set at quality, CAS 75%
Few tweaks in JSON settings, disabling Live Broadcast displays on track, etc...

I'm uncertain if it (The OpenComposite DLL replacement) is needed so far LMU is concerned, as I suspect that it already includes it but haven't had the opportunity to verify.

LMU has OC dll already installed. You can check the OC log from %localappdata%/OpenComposite/logs/opencomposite.log
The dll is a revision from August 28th 2024.

Hello, I have an oculus rift s. The interior of the car is nice, but the exterior is very blurry. Is there a solution to this problem?

Hi, if the interior is clear (the dashboard is readable), then it's not a VR issue, otherwise everything would be blurry there too. I’m leaning more towards a graphics quality setting that's too low.

The race is very difficult because the other vehicles, track and objects are blurry. I increased the resolution with the Oculus tray tool but it did not help.

I use Pico4 i and VR was working fine until this message appear, "unable to init vr runtime vrserver iternal error (12.." What can I do?and I am now unable to use VR.

NIt's not a very orthodox solution, but I had no other choice to get VR back. Even reinstalling the game didn't stop the VR runtime error. The solution is to use "openvr_api.dll" and "steam_api64.dll" from the rFactor 2 game. I have it installed. Copy and paste them into LMU. It will work with SteamVR, improving sharpness and allowing you to use configurable overlays in CrewChiefV4, such as RelativeOverlay, which tells me how much I need to refill at each stop.

Thankyou so much, worked for me :)

Hi I'm using a HP Reverb G2 and a 3080TI. So far VR is running good with Steam VR, but I want to tweak my settings but can't see my fps. In ACC I used fpsVR but that doesn't seem to work with LMU. How do you guys keep an eye on your fps and headroom?
Or should I switch to OpenVR, although Steam VR is running good at the moment?

OpenXR Toolkit shows FPS and more, and will enhance your VR experience a lot. https://mbucchia.github.io/OpenXR-Toolkit/
Don't get confused by the developers own notes about the app not being supported or updated any longer. It just works perfectly. (I have a G2 too). And you need "OpenComposite" that switches from SteamVR to OpenXR(Toolkit) https://gitlab.com/znixian/OpenOVR. After installing both apps, you just start the game on Steam choosing Steam VR in the Select Window and the the OpenComposite App switches to the openVR Runtime environment, this way allowing OpenXR Toolkit to do its magic.

Hi all, just want to share the nice surprise that happened to me. I upgraded from a RTX 3070 to a 4080 Super. CPU is a 5600x. VR is still a valve index . After the upgrade I still had issues with stutter no matter how low tuned the settings. I however used full super sampling resolution most of the time. I was a bit disappointed about this performance
However I figured out that the CPU was the bottleneck as after I cranked up the MSAA to 8x the stutter was gone and I have good looking rock solid 90 fps with medium detail (still no shadows but more because of distraction) with 18 cars visible. I only play online.

You don't need the OpenComposite switcher. LMU already has OC dll file and you can just set WMR as default openXR runtime and it's good to go.

hi. tell me how it possible to limit the frame rate of quest3? the openxr frame counter shows 120-121 and it seems to me that this is the cause of small stutters. they are barely noticeable but I see them with my peripheral vision. I want to try to limit it to 119 or so.
