Further information and reports are needed to assist development with a fix
You blatantly drove through the red curtain. Why would you not expect a penalty? Why did you do it? Why is having to stay behind something which signals you not to pass it harsh?

Don't be daft Rob. All you have to do is stay behind it. As they say, it ain't rocket science. To bastardise a quote, "To do it once Mr. Worthing, may be regarded as a misfortune; to keep doing it looks like carelessness.".
 
No, the only point I've made is that you keep on about this, which isn't really a joke, it becomes quite dull after a while. If you're not prepared to learn and take action to avoid what you know is going to happen, it will keep happening, won't it? It's not a case of needing to change it because some drivers can't deal with it. You make fun of those who haven't incurred a start penalty for a long time or many races, but that's because they know what to do - and what not to do. Knowing that you can't pass the red curtain and then going out in the next race and doing it again makes no sense at all.
 
I am responding to someone who has a similar issue, it is your choice to reply. It seems as though the company has realised there are slight issues and has started to try and improve the start procedure snd penalty system, if you have no issues with it I am not quite sure why you are commenting on it, I do not take race starts anymore as a result of how flaky the start procedure is for me and in an effort to avoid the chance of a penalty. This guy is rightly highlighting the issue further by doing some proper digging.
 
I'm commenting Rob because you keep responding to an issue which for most users is really not that 'flaky'. If the devs make the process easier, I don't have a problem with that however I'll bet odds-on that some will still pick up penalties as they can't stop themselves from unnecessarily weaving and accelerating before the race even starts.
 
You are probably right, but when compared to most titles I have played this one has a far bigger share of issues with such a basic part of the game, that is the point and I think the devs recognise this hopefully, though I am not holding my breath
 
Yeah, possibly right. If I'm honest, other than a brief dalliance with Project Cars, my racing experience has largely been with GPL where of course you had grid starts. I suppose it will always be a case of those who have few if any problems wondering why those who have them do.... But when I see a video which shows clear non-compliance with a relatively simple instruction, I think I can be forgiven for wondering why.... ;)

Yeah, right, I think some messages aren't clear enough, I see people taking penalty every race, not only me, that could be totally avoidable...

Like penalty for "Speeding", I was for almost 3 weeks thinking that the problem was the speed I was reaching with my car, and not the amount of time that I was in the "slow down" zone. I talked with a lot of people in an out of the forums and no one was able to give the right solution. I had to find by myself, looking at the tracelog (how much drivers looks at the tracelog??)..

Just showing a clearer message (like "you stayed for too long on slow down zone") could fix tons of peoples complains, it's a constructive criticism.

You guys doesn't need to go crazy on the discussion because of it, I posted here with the intention of improving the game, I could stay quiet about it.
 
Got a 'DT' for being asked to 'Catch Up' by Race Control. I entered the pits to serve my penalty however it did not even register. I sat there for a bit. Then I left the pits and was instantly kicked from the race. - (My face itched and I mised the intitial roll on)

Don't asks us to "catch up" then penalize us for doing so.

Fix: Make Formation Lap automatic (no driver control). Or get rid of it altogether until it can be fixed.
 
I think since starting playing, have been done for speeding 4 or 5 times, erratic 3, mainly because apparently if those in front do so, this affects the way the start wave operates, have probably been hit from behind 5 or 6 times aswell due to the inconsistency of each.

In context have had a bunch where it has been fine.

But, if you are going to have a penalty system so harsh, and so sensitive, there either need to be varying degrees of difficulty in the game, or a better system overall.

Time penalties look like they are coming, that is a step forward.

A drive through for touching an imaginary red barrier is a joke, sorry.

Tutorials are a must for me aswell.
 
Also, yesterday it said my 911 had contact with a Corvette that spun out on the last turn at Sebring. It said I had contact with him. Were were both like "WTH?" I think there is a bug with the hit boxes too. We never touched, ever. If fact he was courteous enough to turn his wheel in a way that allowed him to roll backward so none of us would hit him.

If you get a DT (Drive Through) you do exactly that. You don't stop at your pit.
