Info Required Driver Swap Bugs MEGATHREAD (Part 1)

Further information and reports are needed to assist development with a fix
6H Fuji Event – Saturday, 4th October – Lobby 2 of 8 at 12:00 UTC

– we load the setup before qualifying, then load it again before the race start.
Throughout the entire race, the car feels strange. At the end of the race, we check the setup and discover the car was running with the "default factory settings"... Thanks!
6 hours of suffering.
Not to mention the ridiculous part: running a special event with all the timing gaps bugged and not even addressing the issue, especially when the previous two events were perfect.
Lobby 2 of 8 at 14:00 Italy time.

A reminder for those posting their bugs in here:

PLEASE describe the problem in as much detail as possible and attach trace files (zip them if too large).

Thank you.

I'd like to add something to what was mentioned above.
Sunday's event, at the usual time, lobby 2 of 5, had the exact same issue.
We raced with a fixed setup.
Moreover, we noticed that not only were the gaps bugged, but also the VE (engineer view) was completely glitched for the entire grid.
For all 6 hours, it only showed two numbers: 2.7% and 2.4%.
So it was impossible to support my driver on track at that moment.

As far as I'm concerned, this event was a complete disaster.

Between crashes, incorrect and bugged gaps and virtual energy, and two cars which—despite showing "car setup loaded"—ended up with default factory settings at the end of the race.

Me and my brother did the 6hr of Fuji on the weekend. We ran into the issue that both of us are M.Koltai on the game, therefore we had no visual confirmation on who would be the driver during the pitstop. Could we get something to visually differentiate people with similar names?

One other issue we had is that when swapping I accidentally pressed the Exit Vehicle before being put into the car and this bricked my game and I had to restart.

Same problem in Fuji 6 hours and Sliverstone 4 hours.

Normal finished a stint and swap driver. After the swap done, the driver cannot move and have no throttle input. Only the steering wheel can move.

We rebooted the game then "get in the car" to slove this problem.

12 Hours of Spa, 10:00 UTC, Timezone GMT+2, Split 2/3
Build ID 20461908
No plugins
Second driver swap, 8:45 hours to go. The driver got swapped, but was put into spectate and couldn't drive. The car got classified as DNF. Leaving the session or restarting the game didn't help.
Drivers participating and driving were Ondrej Poustka (Me), Jakub Jirusek, Jan Goetz (drivers swapped, and an issue occurred) and Kamil Padera (haven't joined the session or drove).

Subject: Repeated Game Crash (CTD) without Error Message During Driver Swap Events

I've been experiencing a recurring issue during several Driver Swap Events: My game crashes completely (Crash to Desktop/CTD) without any error message.

The crash consistently occurs shortly after the driver swap countdown has finished and I have taken control of the car.

Affected Events and Tracks

The issue has been intermittent, occurring frequently at certain tracks while working fine at others:

  • ❌ COTA: Crash occurred.
  • ✅ Fuji (Day 1/Event 1): Swap worked fine.
  • ❌ Fuji (Day 2): Crash occurred again.
  • ✅ Silverstone: Swaps worked without any issues.
  • ❌ SPA: Game crash occurred again.

Additional Observation

During Practice at the SPA track, we successfully tested a driver swap, but the subsequent Race saw the game crash again at the same point.

Provided Data

Attached are the Tracefile from the SPA race and the relevant error message from the Windows Event Log for further analysis.

Reporting dirver swap bug that I had.
Bug Report Regarding Driver Swap
Please check the video from around 2:42:00 until the end at the following link.

Our team consisted of three drivers. After completing the first and second stints, I took over for the third stint.
Immediately after the driver swap, my throttle input stopped responding.
At that time, even keyboard inputs such as the ESC key were not accepted.

I force-closed the game and tested it in offline mode — all buttons and pedal inputs worked without any issue.
However, when I returned to the race server, I experienced the same problem: pedal and keyboard inputs were not accepted only during my stint after the driver swap.

EDIT:
---------------
If the tire change settings are the cause of the bug, then in the first stint, all four tires were changed.
In the second stint — just before I took over for the third stint (when the bug occurred) — only the left-side tires were set to be changed, and the right-side tires were set to no change.
You guys saying "you thought you didn't like something. It needs refinement. " ne?

During the 12h of Spa, I've had a problem, when I joined the race server, I could stay for 5 secondes and after, the game was shuting down.
To solve the issue, I had to delete the plugins file.

Hi everyone,
we’d like to share some quick feedback/ideas on yesterday’s 12-hour session at Spa-Francorchamps. Overall, it was a great event, but we noticed a few things that could be improved:

  • A teammate experienced another game crash. This always happens to him in endurance races. We don't have a solution for this issue yet.
  • The mechanic that allows a mate to take over the car is a good one. But some teams use this mechanic to repair damage quickly. They use AltF4. As a solution, the damage can be left on by disconnecting or pressing AltF4. Damage should only be repairable by driving to the pit.
  • The message in the chat from other cars that a driver is taking over a car is too big. It's not that important for us in the race.
Nice to have:
  • It's not practical that the chat isn't displayed in spectator mode. You can watch the team car for hours, but you always have to use the ESC to chat. Can you also display the chat in spectator mode (with on/off option) ?
  • Maybe the lobby chat could be divided into all and the vehicle classes. This way, in multiclass races, you can't annoy other vehicle classes with messages.
  • It would be great if the vehicle number was displayed next to the name in the chat. Then it would be easier to understand which car is currently writing.

Thanks for the great race and for continuously improving the game!

Leaving the session and joining it again corrupted the Replay file, only showing the race from lap 150 and onwards.

Contacts not counting in Safety Rating, only track limits

12H Spa - Saturday 12:00 CEST - Split 7

At our last pitstop, I should get the car. I was in watch mode as in all the pitstops before, but this time, I did not get the car, although correctly chosen in the Pitstop MFD by the current driver. Instead of being put into the car, there was a message on the screen like: "Engineer: Car is available".

I had to close the watch mode and the car was placed meanwhile in the garage. In the standings screen, I could click on "Take Control" and started the last stint out of the garage,

Multiple driver swaps from one of our drivers didn't work. 3 times it didn't work, first the driver was in spectacte mode 3rd time in the live timing screen. Same result each time. No driver inputs had to alt F4 for someone else to take control.
The first driver swap to this driver was no issues; they also swapped to me without issues, then a further swap to another driver worked fine.
later in the race driver swap worked

we had 2 different drivers requesting him as well.

trace file attached. Note doesn't have the entire race, as I had a game crash early in the game. This swap issue has happened to various drivers across most of the driver swap events for our team.

We had issues with all our driver swaps during the second split of 12 hours of spa commencing at 9am AEDT 25/10/25.

When we would attempt a driver swap, the original driver was able to leave the car and enter spectating, however the next driver was stuck either spectating the car or in the cockpit but unable to move the car. In some of the cases, we were able to move the wheel and it was registering that we were applying throttle and brake, however the car was unable to move. Holding and releasing clutch wouldn't work as well as attempting to turn the car off and start the engine again. Only fix was to alt + f4 the game, then join back into the lobby where we could take control of the car from the garage and then get moving again. We have also tried spectating from different camera positions or stop spectating before driver swap, however none of these worked. I have attached the trace files for the whole 12 hours here. Due to the large amount of cars around the track, loading back into the server was longer than usual and we lost more than a lap of time each driver swap.

I am only able to attach 5 files, however there is only one more.

Spa 12hrs - 25th Oct 10am UTC - Split 5/11
Firstly, the event was really fun, 38 tyres meant lots of strategy choices and we were able to make fuel saving work to overcome a team that was probably faster on paper. Everything I want to see in an endurance race! Race itself ran smoothly for our team, though we had one driver with some latency issues, a reboot of their router after an emergency swap fixed this, so may have been his side.

Couple of observations:
1.
25 out of 59 starts finished the race, and I hear similar reports from the other splits. This attrition rate is way too high. Unsure if this was technical issues, quitting after incidents, unprepared teams or (in our sister cars case) engine damage. The last one I saw happen, so I'll just assume a portion will be related to that.

I get it - its a sim, and in real racing, if you bin it, you're done. But we're here as a hobby, and peoples time and fun should matter. A small misjudgment should not end your race, all of the prep people put in etc. Its a feels bad moment when you make 1 mistake and you stop 3-4 people in your team from achieving anything, maybe even from contributing at all. It puts off drivers who are newer to the hobby and still learning, it will drop player count in these events and it'll stop people who do stick it out from practicing as they should because why devote 2 hours to prep when it could be over in minutes?

I put this in your discord chat and all I got was "they should get good" and equivalent. That attitude drives people away from a game, not towards it. If this is a design decision, PLEASE reconsider.

Suggestion: Make it so your car can be towed and the damage fixed with a reasonable penalty for doing so (2 laps is probably enough - not iRacings ludicrous fix times). Give them back a car thats competitive and let them race out the rest and see how much they can recover.

2. It felt odd to us that tyre wear was worse when the air temp was 12 degrees compared with 28 degrees. The tyre warmup time being longer is logical, but surely when the tyres are barely 70 degrees, they should last longer than when they're 85 degrees? An observation in case this was unintended.
