Oh, got ya now. Yeah, I think at least one of the DT's I got was really being caused by the leaders erratic speed and the accordion effect behind him.

Well that's helpful to know, and I have been completely misreading the red wall. So that puts me back to unsure how far behind the driver in front of me I can get away with without a penalty. If the driver in front is pulling away and the driver to the side is lagging back, and the start protocol is complaining to catch up, what is the correct way to manage the competing problems?

Usually stay in first gear and at/below 90kph. I doubt you’ll get speeding even if the other driver is lagging, long as you don’t touch the red wall.

There is no speed limit (in my experience)
I went 120kph and more on occasion and it was fine.

There’s no set speed, and I’ve also gone quite fast without penalty, but very rarely if ever is speeding given below 100kph. So it’s a good approach.

Again, my personal theory is:
There is no "speeding", it's all about position.
And it would be nice if that was written somewhere in the f***ing manual!

Ofc, if you go slow you will rarely end up too far ahead

Yeah that would be nice. Learning by getting smacked on the hand for doing it wrong kind of sucks. Even that would be better if you got an in game or post race explanation of the reason for the penalty. At least then you would only have to make the mistake once before finding out the cause. Or maybe there is an explanation somewhere that I just haven't found yet.

No, the only explanation is what others are giving you. I’ve found what I said earlier the most concise way to approach it.

Well that's unfortunate, but thanks for letting me know so I don't waste time hunting for something that doesn't exist.

A word of clarification - replays do not contain several basic data, including flag icons and fuel info.

Yeah that's kind of unfortunate. It would have been much easier to figure out what I had done when I reviewed the replay if those flags, and DT indicator had been in the replay. Thanks for the clarification.
