Custom Liveries

So, Are custom liveries behind a paywall as that's the only way of making RaceControl Pro look like value, Cos it don't work.
We are left with races with no variety what so ever, In daily races the most you ever seem to see is about 4 custom out of a 21 car grid, But most of the time it's 1 or 2, Thing is most people have probably spent more than the Pro cost on the game and some DLC, So why are custom liveries behind a paywall.

I can see they are being, Or trying to be clever and pushing you to the Pro+, Give you liveries and Champion Ship in the Pro, But you may need DLC tracks to run Champion Ship so may as well go Pro+, But I don't think they have any idea just how many don't have the time for champion ship and the like, And the jumping into and out of 20 or 60 minute races is all they need with a few cars and a few tracks.

If you have 600 odd drivers over 30 splits I bet there are no more than 80 or so custom liveries over them 30 spits, Maybe that's enough for the developers, But the lack of custom liveries shows that something is not working, And lets not forget that LMU is NOT free to play, Most have probably spent at least 30-40 quid, As much as ACC was, So having custom paint jobs behind a paywall is just wrong if you ask me.

I always use a custom livery, have done since they were available. I have about 300 in total. In the splits I find myself in, there are generally 6-7 cars at least with custom liveries. I can only speak for myself, I’m happy to have the facility. I’ve been Pro+ since it started.

Never really understood the necessity to put this behind a paywall like hosting servers too.

But they are about money, not a lot more at the moment, it is why the DLC is dropped the way it is, so it will not be changed sadly. Luckily you can still do a fair bit without it, but paying to host is beyond gormless in my eyes sorry.

If you did not know, if this game failed MSG and the whole thing were toast, so they monetized the crap out of this, including MAKING you pay for stuff that is free in other rival games.

I actually think this is going to back fire pretty soon, I left ACC and mainly play this, But I'm actually starting to get a bit bored of it now, As much as people moaned about the driving in ACC, I liked jumping from from one open server to another.

I've just looked at this weeks schedule, And it's groundhog day, Weeklies I can't really do because I work for a living, Specials I can't do cos I'm a billy no mates, Champion ships cos I don't have time or Pro, So 20 minute races and a 60 minute one it is, And even tho I've bought 2 DLC's I still only have 4 of the 6 daily race tracks.

Gonna boot up ACC again and see if I can get back into that.

I put over 1000 hours into ACC, and got just as bored, I always hated the SR system in it, was massively punitive and hard to increase.

And as a server player ot was just as limited, Monza and Spa all day, so dull

I will agree with the Monza and Spa being over represented, But you could still find Brands Hatch and Barcelona which were both great.
I've gone of piste here a bit, Custom liveries, I still think it's tight fisted putting them behind a pay wall, I think most playing the game have probably put enough money into the game to have earned it, Just going by how many run the BMW shows that, And allowing more to have liveries may mean more of them feel a part of the game and more invested because other racers remember liveries more than names.
I just don't get it, I do get they want a steady income stream, They can't really go down the iRacing way because as popular as sim racing has become there are just not enough of us willing to invest that much time AND money into more than one sim, And getting someone to drop what could be years of money and time in iRacing to start all over again is a hard ask.
So, There's not that many ways left to get a steady income from sim racing, And putting liveries behind a paywall possibly shows how hard it is, Now i don't know what the Pro uptake is, But by the amount of Liveries I see it doesn't seem too many, It may be enough and it may be more than it seems, But I still think it's tight fisted.

As I say chap, you have to understand the policies on release.

They had multiple failures up to this point, deals that fell through etc through their fault and were really only making money from RF2 online gaming and a few older titles, so this was a huge gamble and they just monetized the hell out of it.

The core game is very good, the way they sell it is not.

Better to have a subscription for custom liveries, than a subscription to race online.
And in comparison to iracing, It's peanuts.

But Yeah. Would be nice to have it without.

I think you possibly need to educate yourself on how the livery system technically works before wrongly suggestions it's just a cash grab.

Just as a snapshot example, my split at Silverstone this morning, 36 entrants, 10 custom liveries.

I did Monza 60 minute yesterday, And only had 6 custom.

Without being rude and you being a Moderator, How about you educate us on how the livery system works.

I only subscribed to get custom liveries. The business model seems to work if there are more drivers like me.

The livery system uses a server to distribute the liveries of every client on the (many) RaceControl servers automatically, this includes those from the livery hub website. Hosting, bandwith and maintenance for this service comes at a cost which is why they decided to include it in the sub benefit.

It has been said many times when people in error say "it's free with other games".
e.g. iRacing.... uses Trading Paints, which is free at point of use for most players but if you check their website it is funded by those that decide to sub and pay for their service.

It's very easy to get into the mindset that "everything should be free" or "everything I want should be free", but that is just not how to world works.

You give the example of iRacing, So how do you explain ACC.
And with all due respect, The game wasn't free, We've all payed for it, And I bet most have bought 1 or 2 DLC's, So most even without Pro are 40-50 quid in, You could say, Us without the Pro are the ones keeping it going with the steady stream of DLC purchaces.

I am unfamiliar with ACC's system.

i love it to have custom liveries, released several on overtake and on the livery hub.
48$ (+tax) sounds much, but if i break it down to months, its 4$ per month or 13 Cent per day
And to be honest, how often in a month you spend 4$ for something you do absolutely not need?
2 tins of a softdrink, a cup of coffee, half pack of cigarettes, a peace of cake, chocolate , whatever?
Hard to say if its fair to pay for, but i like custom liveries more than some of above ;)

How do you get custom Skins in ACC?
Is there something similar to trading paints?
I researched a bit.
The only similar I found was for LFM races if you pay for it. (around 6 €/month)

To see custom liveries in ACC (or AC) the liveries have to be on your computer before joining the server.
No problem for leagues.
For random online Servers not so easy, if not impossible.

Custom mliveries in ACC on random servers works fine, And have a folder full of liveries is not a problem.

Lol bless him, so you still have to PAY to have liveries, ffs that s the point, when the vast majorty of games do not. It is NOT a selling point in any way. It's merely a carrot
