Anyone else use bonnet cam?

Due to the limited seat adjustment (still) and at my FOV, I just cannot get along with the cockpit cam. The bonnet cam is the closest I can get to the feeling of ACC’s cockpit cam (without wheel).

I use the bonnet as well, I usually run the dashboard cam in games however for some reason LMU doesn't have one which I find strange.

I feel they should either remove the limited seat adjustment, or add more views.

Yes. I actually find it more "realistic".

In real life you can move your head (I'm too poor for "VR") and your brain compensates for the A-pillars, etc, letting you focus on the road and the task at hand (like actually seeing an apex).

With rF2, i use "Head-tilt" to adjust the seating position of every car. Not an option with LMU (yet?).

In a perfect world I’d be able to adjust the camera back from the bonnet cam so I’m just behind the windscreen (love the immersion of rain/dirt etc) and have the ability to have the wheel display displayed where I please. The game HUD doesn’t display the energy used in Hypercars as far as I can see.

I also use this view because my rig with my monitor distance is arranged for this "ACC dashcam view" and this looks very realistic, or natural, overall.

I find it strange that a sim with such a claim to realism has completely "forgotten" this topic. For me, it is actually standard that you can adjust the camera so that it is close to the windshield - be it through a separate camera perspective or an extended seat adjustment.

At the moment, ACC is still my "to-go-sim". I'm on the fence to switch to LMU - but not without a decent camera setting.

The thing is that the cockpit perspective of LMU also slows me down because it feels detached and disconnected due to the far seat position, as if I would remotely control the car through a cam - if this makes sense. Hard to describe.

By the way: there is a right-side-dashcam view in game which would be okayish - if it would be on the left side...

;)

I know exactly what you mean. I’ve tried not to go to bonnet cam as it feels a little “Forza”, if you know what I mean. But I’m so much faster and am having so much more fun by being able to see the apex!

I fully understand you. I'm easily between 2s - 4s faster per lap - and much more consistent because I can see the apex and don't have to guess. And that has nothing to do with cheating, but with a better, more realistic perspective - and therefore better vehicle control. It's not cheating in ACC or other sims either.

I personally use the cam where you can see just the road (don't know the name in English lol). I feel much more the car, it has a better sense of speed and can feel better the deceleration due to breaking, also I understand better the breaking point of each track. It is not the most realistic because in real life you are "in the car" and not outside on the front but gives me better results

I'm interested in this. I'm a cockpit view man, through and through - it feels far more realistic to me to effectively be sitting where I would normally be in the car, however I've come to realise that one of my biggest problems in the game (probably the biggest aside from lack of talent ;)) is being able to see the apexes, in particular those of left-handed corners. This is quite marked in the LMP2s with the pillars they have. (Also with the GTE Porsche with that massive obtrusive warning light screen). I'm struggling more and more with these, particularly at Fuji, Bahrain and Portimao and get them wrong time and time again. I've been fiddling with seat position and FOV and have some adjusted settings to try out when I race next but maybe I need to just have a try with the bonnet cam to see what difference (if any) that makes....

I'm not sure if you tried it but if you hit the home key you get a nice driving view.

I do it . After last update the Bonnet Cam in BMW GT3 didnot work correct . It shows the cockpit footroom so you seethe pedals
