AI after today's update.

Just did a few 'Race Weekends' with the AI after the update. AI is horrible now. At LeMans, there was a 20 car pileup in pit lane. The entire session (before I quit) my dashboard was lit up like a YELLOW Christmas tree with caution indicators.

All the AI cars are rushing to get out as soon as the session starts and it's causing a wreck-fest.

I started a co-op and during practice had a similar thing happen at Monza. Once car was sideways in the pits and blocked all the other cars from exiting.

It's almost like... no, it's exactly like they don't actually bother testing things when they update the game. If they aren't reversing into walls they are crashing into each other. One single race weekend simulation would have made this obvious.

I reported the atrocious AI since 1.4 to them and they wanted me to send them a video… I mean, just load up your game, start a race against the AI and see the resulting carnage. It’s that simple. I said as much in the report. After playing tonight, it’s clearly gotten even worse.

Cars crashing left right and centre on most tracks I tried, getting rear ended almost every lap from faster classes, crashing in the pit lane and then getting stuck in the pit lane, all cars leaving the pits at the exact same time…

I’m all for reporting bugs, but all the devs need to do is spend 1 minute reading this thread, on their official support forum, load up their game and play a race weekend to experience all the above themselves. I suppose that won’t happen for months or at all as it has nothing to do with online and the race control subscription…

All these physics changes means the AI need updating. It’s exactly what Kunos did. Kept updating the physics but didn’t bother tweaking the AI to suit. Not that their AI was ever up to the standard of LMU’s, but they left it completely broken when they abandoned the game.

Apart from this issue and the AI all leaving the pit at the same time instantly now, is how long it will take them to fix these issues, lets face it not exactly their strong point..Single player is just a mess right now and its like they don't give a dam.

Yes, it's like no one even did a offline session or did and couldn't care less ?
Fix it yesterday please.

Hold your horses. They've already fixed the pit-entry and pit-exit reversing bug during races – that was the real killer. My entire 6-hour endurance race was ruined because of it; I'd already run 4 hours... As for the pile-up on pit exit in practice and qualifying, there are other ways around it – I could just switch to private mode, for instance. But the in-race pit bug was unavoidable. Thank goodness, at least now we can actually do endurance races. Since single-player gets no support, we have to learn to fend for ourselves – unless there's absolutely no other way."

I am talking specifically about the last small update, yesterday it was 100% offline.
Nah sorry they screwed perfectly good offline AI, skipping sessions in rF2 is okay :coffee:
Fixes for online AI that screw offline AI keep it up you will be getting a not recommended for me because without AI working as they were it's useless to me and many others.

Still find it incredulous they could offline test that then release it as is was my point which you ignore and make excuses.

AI in coop is acting like you are not there! I started daytona coop and the 2nd crashed into me like i'm not in front of him.

There is a new hotfix for the AI leaving the pits in a mass exodus, already out today.(Mon. Aug 11)

He’s talking about rear ending (😳). Been a thing for ages but does seem to be worse now. AI leaving puts at the same time is its own thing. This still needs to be sorted.

"There's no such thing as being rear-ended — it's all about not practicing enough, poor lap time fundamentals, weird racing lines, braking points that are way too early, and so on. What I'm most satisfied with in this game is the multi-class racing. I've done a lot of single-player endurance races, and almost never got hit by the AI.

Case in point regarding the rear ending in the video below (13 second clip). There's no way I could have avoided this. The incident happened in a co-op race. My partner will probably have a stop and go penalty as a result of this.

The AI are almost completely blind and oblivious now and make no attempt to avoid contact. When overtaking on straights the AI will happily drift into me. When overtaking on corners, even with an overlap, the AI will stick to their line even if it means knocking me off.

There's no way the Mustang would have got down to 60 at the speed he came in (said he, as the driver due to take over in this Coop race). Which begs another question that's been bugging me for a long time - why don't the AI drivers ever get penalties? I've seen them go way out of track limits many many times but you never - ever - see them get a penalty. I remember doing several races at Silverstone, especially in the P3s when the AI were out of track limits virtually every lap on the outside of Copse.

Ain't no different on corners as well, I don't door rubbing but you can guarantee your spin off and they carry on, but when they pass you they just cut back in way to close to you as well, been the same since day one, came across a new one for me, was doing a drive through at Daytona, a AI appeared in its pitbox and instead of waiting it just drove into the side of me, I got a Stop and Go for that.

That's quite true, that Mustang wasn't going to be under 60. Unless he hit me first, so maybe the AI is actually smarter than we think because he used me as his brakes 😂

Point taken regarding the AI not getting penalised, I've never ever seen them get any sort of penalty. The AI and offline modes have been sorely neglected and are in desperate need of work. Lots of work.

I would ask why you were already below the pit speed limit around 20 metres before the line. If I was following you into the pits I probably would have hit you as you were going much slower than necessary, and much slower than I would have expected.

I only see highly agressive AIs here.
The AI uses lots of grip and can surprise real drivers, like in Pits.
Maybe there is some sort of tweak to add to AIs on agressivity, like high (reasonable) and exterme (actual high today).

And i think AIs will never have penalties just because they are not that Intelligent and aren't actually able to manage DT or even S&G, imo.
They need to choose a lap to do it, disable fuel or not, manage tyres, so an "intelligency" they don't have and probably will never have on LMU for obvious performance issues.

Talking performances, if you play with a lot of IAs and in full 3 classes, performance "things" tend to make AIs quite "blind". Their refresh rate is like too low and they just won't be aware of you.
